  • How many fighters did Floyd Mayweather duck in his career?

Right heard this many times so someone explain which fighters he ducked or fought past their primes when he could have fought them earlier.

The ones i always hear are Margarito and Paul Williams so shoot away guys, back it up though with evidence.

I'd say the only real one is probably Manny Pacquaio. Margarito wouldn't have done **** anyway. In the end maybe Kosta Tzu?

Not sure about 'duck' but there are plenty were in or around his weightclass that he either didnt fight or he fought when they were not at their best (though its fair to say he wasnt at his best either at those points)

The two year hiatus from 2007-2009 really hurts him IMO. Paul Williams, Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Shane Mosley, Joshua Clottey and Manny Pacquiao were all in or near their primes and fighting and beating each other during and just after this period. Allthough he ended up fighting three of these later its fair to say if he was around during his retirement fighting these guys at their peak his resume would look a hell of a lot better.

I think as well its worth remembering that he was not the cash cow he is now when he was fighting below 147. In a lot of ways he was high risk low reward fighter and IIRC Cotto and Hatton both turned down fights with Mayweather when he was at 140.

Even without some of these wins he has a great resume and the level of dominance he has shown fighting who he did fight is astonishing

He ducked all the fighters he didn't fight, and some of the ones he did.

Yeah but a lot of guys he didn't fight eventually proved to be beatable...Margarito for example, Williams... Now Charlie Z appeared unstoppable until he faced Floyd's old man who sent him through the ropes.
