Maidana is a good top 6-10 fighter but I agree that he's been overrated/overhyped.

Maidana is a C+/B- level slugger who had one good fight with Mayweather, so yeah ,he is bound to get overrated. But the guy has never won a meaningful fight in his career, although I think he should have maybe got the nod over Kotelnik.

I don't think he is overrated. He does have a lot of popularity for his record though.

who said he was elite? he is rated properly. if anything, he is underrated because NSB expects him to lose by body shot in every fantasy fight.

apart from the alexander clinchfest, he still gives exciting fights even in defeat. maidana is a throwback fighter and that's what people appreciate.

I wouldn't put him in the top 5 at WW but I think he's top 10.
kotelnik took alexander to school so i don't consider him to be lower tier.

his fight with maidana should've gone to maidana though. kotelnik didn't do enough, would only fight a minute of every round and got his face battered. looked like a sparring session for chino.

I have never watched the Kotelnik-fight. I might have to. If people are right and he really got robbed, then I should reconsider my opinion a bit.

And his best wins are Broner, Cayo and Ortiz. Good-but-less-than-great wins. Why are people so high on this guy? He is dangerous and entertaining, that's for sure, but he is far from elite level.
He was never nothing special to begin with he gets elevated because he was a mayweather opponent with a belt that is all ..
