  • Comments Thread For: Mayweather Sr: Golovkin is Too Damn Big For My Son!

At the moment, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs) is a retired fighter. On Saturday night, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Mayweather had what he claims to be the final fight of his career. He won a one-sided twelve round unanimous decision over Andre Berto before a crowd of 13,395.

Very few believe Mayweather will remain retired. Even some of the closest members of his inner circle are expecting him to fight again within a year.

See here's the f'ing problem I have with these quotes. You could've killed all talk about that being a potential fight the moment it came up by just once stepping on the unofficial scales. Yeah Floyd is small but it's easier to say well he's 155 on fight night and his potential opponent is 172 lbs on fight fight. Those are numbers we can use to compare but not stepping on the scales and flat out refusing to robs us of that talking point. I don't for a second believe Floyd should fight Golovkin but I also haven't believed in a long time Floyd isn't 160 easily between fights. Just look at his stomach at the weigh in and then on the night of the fight.

Jim Lampley made a good point in that Roberto Duran at welterweight made the jump to middleweight to face Marvin Hagler who was destroying everybody in his path. Floyd will avoid this one. But this would be his biggest fight left.

I too thought Floyd should fight Golovkin but even at 154 lbs Golovkin is just too big especially after rehydrating.

Floyd is a small welterweight who doesn't even weigh in at 154 lbs when he has fought at that weight. GGG would simply be too big and too powerful for Floyd but of course none of this makes any sense to the Floyd haters, he is just "ducking" Golovkin

GGG isn't that big, he is Canelo sized. Problem is that he has deep ameture background, and Floyd doesn't fight peopel with deep amateur backgrounds.

Lol relax, we'll stop talking about Mayweather pretty soon (hopefully) so no need to keep addressing it.

Or you can go through a couple of roid cycles, grow up to 160 and take him on then if he's still the big dog at 160. But even then honestly, Mayweather's 'killer instinct' seems to have run dry so retiring for good seems like a great idea right now.

This fight is very good match up. floyd is a big welterwweight. he could easily make 160 if he wants to but ggg could outweigh him by 5lbs at fight so it's kinda hard for floyd to win.

GGG weighs 166lbs on fight night.

Meanwhile a small welterweight like Floid needs IV fluids more than 10x the allowed limit to rehydrate.
