Based on his commentary, fight analysis and recent corner work; I don't think he's all that good.

Berto was getting his ass beat and he's in the corner giving it 'I told you son, he's got nothing for you.' Then in the final round all he has to say is some pseudo-philosophical nonsense about 'don't make me put you down son, let me pick you up.'

**** off man, tell him something boxing related for **** sake.

Nothing sounds more ****** than a ****** trying to sound smart.

When I hear Virgil Hunter I have that impression.

I think he's good with a certain style of fighters, however I think he's only a good teacher in the gym, during the fight I don't like his style at all.

Either Virgil is more intelligent and wiser than everyone else in boxing.

            Or...

            He just thinks he is.

            I favor the latter.

I think Virgil Hunter has improved khan in numerous ways. When Khan was with Roach he used to just charge head first and throw flurries without second thought. Look at Khan vs Alexander for a prime example of khan's improvements under Hunter. Also the Collazo fight is another good example. I think he has good boxing knowledge and has a calming presence which a fighter like Khan needs.

****** is a joke and he tries to sound like hes super philosofical and deep but in reality hes a ex cop who thinks he ran **** but he was just a mediocre patrolman who dealt with petty crimes,,he aint og
I'm from the Bay Area and know Hunter / Ward's story pretty well and the bold is not true. Hunter was never a police officer.......maybe you're getting him mixed up with Devon Alexander's trainer.

Although i agree with what you said about him having a calm presence, id say he is more vocal and aggressive when hes in the corner with Khan, Khan needs someone to tell him what to do as he switches off in the fight (as virgil stated he has been diagnosed as a kid with ADD)

I for one think he is an excellent trainer, problem with berto is that he doesnt have the IQ of floyd, berto had to go out and just fight his ass off, youth and pressure was the key they chose but lets be real berto is levels below. Im impressed that berto didnt look deflated in the closing rounds like most mayweather opponents he seemed to keep grinding away till the end.
