Cruiserweight: Evander Holyfield vs. Rocky Marciano

At cruiserweight, who would win between Evander Holyfield and Rocky Marciano over 12 rounds? Personally, I think that Holyfield's advantages in height, reach, speed and skills would be enough to decision Marciano without getting knocked out. Holyfield also got enough power to make Marciano respect him and when everything is taken into consideration, I actually think that Holyfield would win this easily. But Marciano does have a puncher's chance.

Marciano. Holyfield had good power, but not great power. I think a ruff fight like that would favor Marciano

Both get hurt in that fight but I think Evander wins a decision.

Marciano does hit harder, indeed, but I think he would have a hard time hitting Holyfield, while I think that Holyfield, on the other hand, would have an easy time hitting him and keeping him away.

Marciano had good power, good stamina and a good chin. But he was small, slow and not very skilled. I can't imagine him beating a guy who is bigger, faster, more skilled and in possession respectable punching power.

        Holyfield UD.

That's a damn good fight. Believe it or not Holyfield is much bigger than Marciano who could easily fight as a light heavyweight today. Marciano weighed 184 in street clothes for some of his title fights in the same day weigh in days. Holyfield would put up a great fight but I like the great Marciano to win by close ud or late round KO. About 2000 punches would be thrown.

Remember, though, that Marciano struggled against guys who are nowhere near the level of Holyfield.

Marciano really wasn't that small. He was a big, heavy built guy for 5'10. I mean look at Pacquiao, I would call him a large, solidly built guy for 5'6. Holyfield was never really a giant either. At his peak, he was coming in at about 206 for heavyweight. It would be an awesome fight, but I think Holyfield wouldn't be able to overwhelm Marciano. I mean look at Holyfield against Dwight Qawi at cruiserweight. The guy was only 5'6 and gave Evander a run for his money. Marciano is just a much better puncher and has power that is more solid/devastating. As Holyfield tires, Marciano would probably take him out of there. He just isn't a good enough outside fighter to keep Marciano at bay. Dempsey vs Holyfield would be a hell of a fight

I can see it going just like Marciano vs. Ezzard Charles.

A grueling fight were Holyfield gets the advantage early on due to his speed and technique. But as the fight goes, the stronger (and i do believe that Marciano would be stronger than Holyfield in this weight) and more tenacious Marciano would wear Holyfield and land his big punches. Holyfield never shied away from battle and that would not bode well for him.

Marciano by close, but clear decision, in one of the most brutal fights ever at cruiserweight.

                  We have a guy with:
                  - A notable height advantage
                  - A notable reach advantage
                  - A notable speed advantage
                  - A notable skill advantage
                  - A good chin
                  - Good punching power
                  - Good stamina

                  Against a guy with:
                  - An advantage in punching power
                  - An advantage in stamina
                  - A good chin

I just don't see how Marciano would do as good as even Tyson did against Holyfield. Tyson was bigger, stronger and faster than Marciano. Not the same stamina, but still.

We are talking about cruiserweight Holyfield. He was good ten lbs of solid muscle bigger agaisnt Tyson. Tyson also at that point was a jugaurnaut and fought at a rate where he wanted to get you of there early or he would go out on his shield trying. Marciano was very calm, and managed his pace perfectly. Marciano was a solid heavy hitter, just a great puncher. Tyson wasnt dynamic at all in his approach of fighting Evander. Marcianos size would allow him to leave more damage and overal effectiveness in a close phone booth type of fight. His greatest asset is getting massive levarage on his punches in close quarters types of fights with taller guys.
