Floyd just wants a break im sure so he wont take a lot of time out. And then for the 50 against a good opponent. No reason why it shouldn't be as good someone like Kovalev was for BH. Or it could just be the rematch with Pac.

More I think about it, the more I think he might not return after all. I mean, logic says he's gonna come back for the big 50th extravaganza. But he seems totally fed up of the sport, and it just shows in his poor performances too, which lack heart and intensity. In his last 3 fights, he's fought like a guy dying to get out of the sport.
I think he really thinks he's gone too but is ultimately open to the possibility of a return.
But unlike the last fake retirement, he's really declining, and is going to be, what, 40 when he comes back? Though being retired will give him a much longer window chance to roid back up and recuperate.
Another thing is.....does anyone even really want to see him come back, after these last 3 performances? Sure, there's a greater risk of him losing but honestly, at that point, who would even care if he lost? What would it even mean? He lost when he was 40 coming back strictly for the cash?
I think he might be done. Quite frankly, for the sake of the sport, we need him gone.Comment

TBE Defensive Boxer in my opinion. Almost impossible to hit him. Amazing senses in the ring. Won decisions in big money fights, he never was knocked down, was rarely hurt, and he was not capable of bringing the crowd to it's feet. Smart guy in designing his career, made mega coin. Now go away. Please don't come back. Please don't rematch PAC to skillfully create another boring fight with no clear winner and no action.Comment

I hope he stays away but not because of hate but to allow the new guys like Thurman, Garcia, Crawford and others become PPV stars. Let's see if they can make the sport popular and make loads of money. His boxing ability is not appreciated but listen to Meldrick Taylor speak, listen to James Toney. You will appreciate it later.
LAS VEGAS - Should Floyd Mayweather's boxing career now be over, as the undefeated American insisted after easily beating Andre Berto in their welterweight showdown on Saturday, his place among the sport's very best is assured.
He will certainly be remembered as one of the greatest defensive practitioners of all time because of his remarkable ability to stay away from danger in the ring, right up there with fighters such as Pernell Whitaker and Willie Pep.

I agree that these three names are decent fighters but Crawford is the only one who really deserves much credit at this point in their careers. He's the only one willing (or able in Thurman's case) to fight the top competition.
I don't know if you don't acknowledge fighters outside of the US but right now, boxers from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, United Kingdom, Cuba and Japan have more potential to be future hall of famers than cherry picking clowns like Danny Garcia and soon to be irrelevant unless he fights a legitimate top 10 contender, Keith Thurman. I like Crawford and see him going far in the future. As for Garcia, he is a laughing stock of the boxing world and Thurman is quickly on the same path if he doesn't convince Uncle Al to let him fight somebody decent.Comment
