Comments Thread For: Quillin Insists Now Is The Time For Jacobs Showdown

Peter Quillin was forced to put his celebration on hold following a 5th round knockout win over Australia's Michael Zerafa. The frightening feat came in front of an NBC-televised viewing crowd Saturday afternoon at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Conn,

A series of right hands—first initiated by a sweeping left hook on the inside—had Zerafa in serious trouble, with a final right hand along the ropes snapping back his head and rendering him unconscious in slinking to the canvas.

Despite the fight being viewed as a mismatch, Quillin treated it as if he was once again fighting for a middleweight title.

KO's a male stripper and announces he wants to eat another man's chocolate.

A year this guy was a champion and considered a top level fighter, what a fall.

Quillin should go back to Freddie Roach. He seems to be regressing every fight.

I feel like the importance of this fight is being forced upon us fans. First of all, it's past it's sell by date, second, I think it's safe to say not many of us care about this 'Brooklyn rivalry' showdown thing (Quillin reps numerous other places anyways MI, Cuban heritage, etc.), and third the reason there was initial interest is because neither fighter had fought any legit competition due to boxing politics and/or ducking so it would be a chance to see one affirm their place over the other @ 160.

Now we're so far down the line, that Quillin has outgrown the division, lost his belt, Jacobs has a fictitious title and that can't be contended for because the bout will be above 160. The 'Brooklyn' thing just isn't enough for us outside of the area to be extremely excited about.

Yeah he's definitely irrelevant, like FraudFloydie has been for years.
