The Curious Case Of Floyd Mayweather

PR? You think it was good PR fighting Manny 6 years later after he was knocked unconscious. They still manage to make massive amounts of money, but it could have been more and legacy wise Floyd would have looked a hell of a lot better. Are those dates correct? I mean I don't see how its NOT a problem to make an offer in February & have a mfer agree to it in May. Idk what sorta business experience you got, but thats not how things work. You can spin things in the media with those sorta facts & TR certainly did it with much success, but if I offer you something today if x, y & z is agreed to its probably not gonna be an offer that stands a week later let alone 13-14 weeks later so I still gotta fault team Pacquiao with this stuff more than team Mayweather. And again the most important part of this is Roach has admitted his side was handling this stuff wrong & badly so the hindsight on it is Pacquiao's people were more of a problem than Mayweather's people
Manny agreed to terms a few months later after Floyd put them down. He than agreed the full testing in 2011 but not through USADA (the irony). Floyd insisted on USADA and than said he was only willing to offer Manny a flat fee of 40m and PPV....
The whole thing was a control issue with Floyd and prolonging the situation to keep him relevant if he lost. If they fought in 2010 for example and Floyd lost, the interest in his proceeding 5-6 six fights would have dropped dramaticallyComment

Floyd's legacy is set. Those that do not like him will say is "well he isn't Ali or Robinson", which is like the people that say "Kobe isn't Jordan" or "Brady isn't Montana".Comment

show me a fight where floyd clinched 20+ times in one round...Comment

the ones who say ali is better hate clinching tho??????? I don't understand that one... ali clinched like a mfka!!!!Comment

Thats a whole other debate.
Well yea there was control stuff happening no doubt about that. Mayweather seemed to be leading the talks & agreeing to TR terms (I believe TR had a crazy $1M penalty per lb over clause that Mayweather agreed to-this was an issue at the time due to Floyd coming in over the initial agreed weight for Marquez) & TR was trying to goof around with Mayweather's terms trying to play the control game instead of just getting **** done. If TR just agrees to Mayweather's stipulations like Mayweather agreed to TR's stipulations the fight happens in 2010.Manny agreed to terms a few months later after Floyd put them down. He than agreed the full testing in 2011 but not through USADA (the irony). Floyd insisted on USADA and than said he was only willing to offer Manny a flat fee of 40m and PPV....

After you don't agree to terms then everything is off the table again. I don't see that as weird or bad business at all. And in particular with PED stuff that a guy isn't agreeing to I could see you wanting to change that more your way if a guy keeps trying to push back the time table of testing. So if a guy is saying he's not cool with 14 days out PED testing in Feb. during your talks, but suddenly & randomly three months later he is, I suspect a persons mind could wander into the concept that maybe he found something that he can use safer within that time frame. And maybe you wanna push it back further now or maybe you learned that 14 days isn't even a meaningful time frame. Opinions can change in 3 months or years. I mean this isn't like agreeing to gloves or ring size. This PED stuff is something that boxing sucks at now let alone in 2010 & new info is always coming to light as we see right now with Mayweather himself. In May Floyd getting a multivitamin IV was reporting in the media & hardly a f#ck was given, now in Sept. some people are acting like Floyd is Lance Armstrong.Comment
