I think the biggest factor in George Groves decline and subsequent defeats stems back to his brave decision upon winning the British and Commonwealth titles against James Degale to fire Head trainer Adam Booth.

To work with Paddy Fitzpatrick, he may have a better relationship with Fitzpatrick but I think Fitzpatrick is too calming and relaxed and spoils Groves natural aggression and power, this transcends to Groves when he's losing fights. They actually had the perfect game plan for Froch first fight in fairness, then unbelievably in the second fight Groves came out far to cagey and tactical and allowed Froch to take center ring and find his confidence and control, surely it would of been correct to come out aggressive again but not reckless as it was obvious Froch was very nervous. Booth would of told Groves only way to win this is KO 1-6 rounds, cause I think nobody can do twelve like Carl Froch does.

Yeah could not believe that. Paddy seems to have amplified Groves flaws and put together some pretty awful game plans, e.g. don't use the sneaky right hand (AT ALL) in Froch-2 which worked time and time again, instead work on the left hook and get yourself knocked out.

Then last night telling him to cruise to a win in the last round instead of go for a knockout?! when he was dropped in the first round in the opponents home turf?

The 2nd Froch fight literally ruined Groves. He would've easily beaten Jack before that 2nd Froch fight.

His identity has changed overnight, throws a bunch of punches with terrible accuracy as opposed to careful punch selection with clean shots. His stance is more textbook rather than the more 'slick' stance he used before, he obviously don't want to get hit with the same right hand that knocked him out but his defence actually seems WORSE now.

people kept saying that Groves was gonna beat Jack easy, that he was gonna knock out him and out class him and so on.. I was like one of the few people that said Jack was gonna outbox him(which he did).

George's jab was really hurting Jack though.

Maybe I'm missing something but that looked like the same Groves I've always seen no huge decline or anything he lost to a better fighter there are still guys he could beat at 68 , he's just not an elite talent never was people are elevating him b/c of 6 rds vs Froch

Delusion has always been a huge part of the Groves camp

I just watched the fight again and Groves won it pretty easy. Much more activity, accuracy, work rate etc.. I only gave Jack 3 rounds.

I picked Jack to win this fight, although I thought it'd be a little easier unless he got caught with something big early. You can tell after the fight that even he felt he could have done better. I did like that he acknowledged that he needs to move his head more. The only thing that kept some of the rounds close was that he was getting caught with so many jabs by a guy throwing more punches than he was. That's a recipe for disaster against someone with better skills than Groves.

The problem is, Groves is good at a lot of things, but aside from punching power he doesn't have any great attributes. Jack is a great body puncher and has technique with potential. Definitely room for improvement, but I can at least say there's a chance there will be some improvement down the line. The same could never be said about Groves, especially with his stamina issues.
