I think while Adonis Stevenson is unlikely to fight Kovalev, he's more likely to do so than Andre Ward.Comment

Stevenson just fought Fonfara last year, who is the highest rated light heavyweight contender by several highly respected independent sources.
Just this year, Stevenson was mandated to unify with the other champion in the division and Stevenson agreed to do so. The other champion backed out and refused to face Stevenson. So it was actually the other top light heavyweight that ducked Stevenson.
Another top contender, Jean Pascal, was offered the opportunity to become Stevenson's mandatory, but declined the offer.
Who is Stevenson ducking?
In a move reminiscent of Floyd Mayweather's infamous phone call to Manny Pacquiao - Jean Pascal pulled off his own version of the scenario by calling his Canadian rival Adonis Stevenson to discuss the possibility of facing each other next. The two boxers were once stablemates under promoter Yvon Michel of GYM. When Pascal left Michel last year, and Stevenson rose in stature with the WBC light heavyweight title, the two fighters began a verbal war or words in the press.
That's not the first time he blew off Pascal. And funniest part is, this time his excuse is he wants Kovalev instead, yet he's unwilling to fight him on HBO, who's got him under contract. It's always something with Stevenson, always a hitch unless you're a no hoper
And remember dude, Fonfara wasn't Ring top 5 at the timeComment

Their is blame to go around on both sides ; sometimes neither side wants the fight at that particular time from a business point of view or personal reasons (pride , ego , fear ect) . One thing I do know Stevenson does not fear Kovalev and vice-versa.http://www.boxingscene.com/pascal-ca...him-off--96996

The common thread is Stevenson. Kovalev, Pascal, Hopkins have no issues making fights with one another, but throw Stevenson in and somehow the fights don't get made. Meanwhile look at his pathetic ratings and attendance. Quebec fans know what's up. FFS used up Pascal and shot Bute are bigger local draws, and they don't bring any belts.
I understand, he's old and vulnerable, and only started making good money a few years back, so he'll milk it as long as he can. But then no complaints if he's stripped or not taken too serious.Comment
