Comments Thread For: Ali vs. Bradley-Rios Situation: Golden Boy VP, Arum Talk

A press release was sent out on Tuesday morning formally announcing the match-up between Tim Bradley and Brandon Rios on November 7th at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. The contest was clearly billed as a fight for Bradley's WBO welterweight title.

On the night of June 27th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, Bradley defeated Jesse Vargas for what was then the 'interim' title and then later Bradley was upgraded to full championship status by the WBO after Floyd Mayweather vacated the belt.

Haha not surprised the first comment is a haymon worshipper. I see Ali (if he really is the mandatory) receive step aside money and fight the winner of Bradley rios. Ali should face a top 10 fighter to better prepare him for Bradley. Though I'm not ruling rios out.

          February 23, 2011:

“They’ve got no background in boxing,” Arum, actually 79, said Tuesday of the HBO matchmakers Golden Boy Promotions advises. “They rely on Oscar, who’s a dummy. Oscar is one of the ******est guys I’ve ever met. I’m just saying what it is. The guy is really not smart. Forget just ‘not smart.’ He’s not just even average.

“I remember when we were bringing him up, we’d have to write the whole script for him. Then you give him the script and he’s great, as long as you keep him on the script. To have an original thought in his head …”

I heard that Sadam Ali is not backing down from being the #1 contender so that may mean that the Bradley-Rios fight may not be for the title...

...which would suck for the WBO. They wouldn't be able to get paid for that fight lol

Can someone please explain how Ali is the mandatory for Bradley, when he has never stepped in the ring with a top 10 welterweight. He needs to prove himself before he fights legit fighters like Bradley and Rios who have both paid their dues in the ring.

Sadam Ali earned his shot at Bradley when he stopped Abgregu, a guy who had never been stopped before and had only lost to Tim.

I would favor Sadam over Sloppy Bradley. The Brooklyn Kid is fast, can box and packs a great punch.

I really wish they would make this happen!...i know GBP is doing their best to make it a reality, not sure about the other guys...

I thought TopRank and GBP worked together now doe..especially after that lunch Bob and Oscar had doe

Joking aside, its good to see that stance from Alis side, but considering its the WBO they will cater to Bob as always. Im just surprised Rios is a Top10 WW then again not so surprised, when you have 3-4 guys who dont compete outside of that group of 3-4 fighters and add in a controversial decision or 2(considering its TR), the ratings go absolutely NOWHERE..thats how you keep a guy like Rios rated. By the sounds of it, Bob would rather have his guy drop the title than to defend against Ali. When is this MFer gonna die!??
