The ordered rematch between WBA 'regular' heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev (34-2-1, 21KOs) and challenger Fres Oquendo (37-8, 24KOs) has been confirmed for October 17th in Germany, according Chagaev's promoter Timur Du****ev.

Du****ev says the fight will head to the city of Kiel. Their first bout took place last July in Russia, with Chagaev winning a very close twelve round majority decision. [Click Here To Read More]

18 months from Wlad defending his WBA title versus Fury he will be expected to make another defence of his super title, hopefully by that point not one of Chagaev, Browne or Oquendo will be regular champ by that time, personally I'm hoping Luis Ortiz will figure in around that time.

      Arreola. I'm certain of it.

At least if it's going to be a fat fuck, get Andy Ruiz Jr in there for some fun. It'd be like watching Wladimir vs Butterbean.

This is not a world title fight! Wlad is the WBA champion. I'm so sick of these organizations making super, regular, interim, champion in your anus or whatever they call them belts to justify sanctioning fees. The sport is so watered down now it is becoming a joke. So browne gets an immediate shot at an imaginary title. Valuev & Ruiz must be on the list too...

Only Chagaev's family, Oquendo and maybe the thief collecting sanctioning fees at the WBA consider this a real title fight. Can much-anticipated Chagaev-Shannon Briggs or Chagaev-Andrew Golata "title" match ups be far behind?

Now Ortiz will win an interim WBA title on the same day against the journeyman he's fighting.

So how many WBA heavyweight titles will there be?

Luis Ortiz in the mix is good news, with Chagaev and Browne likely to contest the WBA regular title and Ortiz waiting in the wings for either one of them before the WBA mandate is enforced again in say 18-24 months, I know who I'd prefer to see Wlad facing as a defence and it certainly is not Browne nor Chagaev.
