The way I see it, the dislike Golovkin gets is because he's a media darling who entertains more than their favorite fighter does. I like a lot of guys that have potential to be greater than Golovkin in terms of historical rankings but none of them entertain like he does at all.
I like Golovkin and watch all of his fights. I also happen to have no problem admitting his resume is garbage and that he needs to test himself. Kimbo Slice and Butterbean were entertaining too.

        That's a spot on comparison.

He's been ducked for the longest time. Even his previous promoter who managed him and Sturm wouldn't make that fight happen.

Quillin ducked him and now Quillin ran to 168 to duck Andre Ward. Jermain Taylor probably had nightmares. Cotto has nightmares.

I think the only guy who wants to fight Golovkin right now is Canelo because there's a Mexican fanbase out there that prefers Golovkin over Canelo probably.

All things held constant Zhou Shiming is gonna have a thicker resume than Golovkin in no time.

People get too attached to fighters and it's like that's never gonna end.

His best win is Martin Murray. Which isn't a good thing btw.

He has no obligation or incentive to move up. HBO and his fans are happy with him destroying fighters that we already know he will destroy. Canelo would be a good fight but that will marinate most likely. He hasn't even fought a real middleweight yet.

He should move up. Rubio just went the distance with a top 10 SMW and GGG obliterated him. But does his team have as much confidence in him as I do? Doesn't look like it.

Murray or Geale. Lemieux and Lee are of similar quality.

His team is the one who thinks he dominates 154-168 but their Plan A has always been to unify the division. You can't find a quote of GGG saying himself he wants to move up to 168 permanently.

This is the same crap people like me say about Floyd defending his 154 belt against GGG, but does his team have the same confidence as I do in Floyd? Doesn't look like it.

                    ...Martin Murray ...

GGG's resume is nothing special indeed, but I don't blame him too much for that, given the circumstances.
Realistically, maybe he could have fought slightly better guys, but MW didn't have much to offer.

What bothers me is his team recent attitude. If you get the chance to fight Ward and you are indeed confident of winning, you don't start speaking about "the economic perspective ".

A win over Ward would make GGG huge in terms of popolarity, many people here would see him as the number 1 p4p, and with Floyd retiring he'd become one of the top names in the sport.

And lol at the guy mentioning Floyd vs Jesus Chaves (for whatever reason). That was in 1997 , Floyd's first full year as a pro. He fought 10 times that year and by 1998 he was fighting a guy like Chicarito Hernandez.

Can't blame him. I don't have confidence in Floyd beating any real MW at age 39.
