Lara does have excellent footwork but he needs to throw more punches. A lot of the Cubans seem to be like that, even Rigondeaux falls into that pattern to a lesser extent.

Lara has all the tools and skillset to be p4p but he's too in love with making guys miss by a mile, instead of having them miss by an inch and firing back with those sniper like straight lefts that he's capable of throwing. Boxing has and will always be about punches. A fighter can win a round without evading a punch but a fighter can never win a round without landing one. Defense is very important as it prevents the other fighter from scoring but you have to score points to win rounds. Lamont Peterson learned the hard way.

I look at it like other sports. In basketball a team can have the overall edge in steals, def. rebounds, and blocks but they won't win if they don't take/make any shots.
