  • Anthony Joshua vs Gary Cornish; Dillian Whyte - Brian Minto RbR Discussion thread

In a sign that he’s got a terrible mismatch in front of him, unbeaten #2 WBC heavyweight contender Anthony Joshua (13-0, 13 KOs) has taken to the media to try and build up the image of his opponent 28-year-old Gary Cornish (21-0, 12 KOs), who he’ll be facing on September 12th for the vacant Commonwealth heavyweight title at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

For most boxing fans, this fight is perceived as a dreadful mismatch, as Cornish is just a slow lumbering heavyweight without hand speed, punching power or defensive skills. He’s just a big guy who has been fed a lot of weak opposition since he turned pro in 2011.

Cornish wont make it into RD2. I have seen him drop his hands after his opponent jabs to the body. Joshua will send his head into the third row when those hands drop

I like that he's getting Cornish and Whyte out of the way. Otherwise in a year or two they could be looking good knocking out bums and calling Joshua out and people will claim he's avoided them for years.

Joshua isn't the finished article yet, he's an undefeated prospect facing other undefeated prospects. If people say he could beat Wlad based on how he looks in those fights then they're fools but it doesn't make Cornish or Whyte bad opponents at this stage.

Cornish is an ordinary HW with a nice-looking record against very soft opposition.

He has ZERO chance of beating Wilder.

                  Is suspected as much.

The guy is like a big George Groves. Small neck, small head> glass jaw.

His only hope is that Joshua is packing glass too.

He's been dropped in the first before but managed to win, Joshua will beat destroy him. Another mismatch, Whyte vs Joshua won't last too long either. AJ is a beast who's being sub par competition. Hearn will probably put the fight between two novices on PPV too
