I think that's exactly what it is and it's a hard thing to come back from. We may once again see the Marcos who got tooled by Alexander and went life and death with Soto Karas. I seriously hope not, but all signs point to it.

Soto Karass is one tough SOB! If he had a more disciplined background he could have been something special but he's a solid B level-ish fighter. I think Alexander was a terrible match up for Maidana for his first fight at Welterweight. Maidana didn't look motivated at all and maybe he overlooked Alexander a bit due to how bad Alexander looked against Kotelnik. In my opinion Maidana beat Kotelnik in the Europe but was robbed on the scorecards and Alexander looked like garbage I think in St. Louis.

Someone mentioned how money changes fighters. Very accurate, in any career. Not many metal bands stay great once they hit the jackpot. Same with fighters. Maidana will always be in interesting high action fights for the remainder of his career, but this particular return to the ring will be his toughest. Garcia will have his hands full getting Marcos in shape and motivated.

I used to think he was just a caveman but he showed such discipline against Broner and Mayweather that I admit I was wrong. The guy is very capable, I think it's a matter of him being motivated and his trainer getting through to him.

The guy repeatedly said he doesn't like boxing and that he is fighting just for the money... Maidana is gifted, but he doesn't look as if he is so eager to torture himself back at 147 again...
