This is what happens when 1 fighter is guaranteed 36 mil, and the network does not have an ironclad say on the opponent being picked. Easy payday for Mayweather, and he does noy even need you to buy the PPV. CBS is taking all the risk.

The hatred displayed on this message board towards Floyd Mayweather is both irrational and ignorant. The Mayweather/Berto fight will likely have a larger live gate than any fight that has taken place thus far this year that didn't involve Floyd Mayweather. It will have a larger live gate than any fight that Canelo Alvarez has ever fought that didn't involve Floyd Mayweather. It will have a larger live gate than 90 percent of the fights that Miguel Cotto has fought in his career. It will have a larger live gate than Golovkin/Lemieux and a larger live gate than any fight in which Golovkin has ever participated. It will likely have a larger gate than Manny Pacquaio's next fight and probably Pacquaio's last 10 fights that did not involve Mayweather.

Yet, the haters on this site, with their irrational and ignorant minds, cannot wait to call the fight a failure because it won't make $100 million or won't outsell Cotto/Alvarez.

It is actually said that there is so little intelligence and so much hate on this message board.

CBS is not taking any risk. A fighter's guarantee is based on the live gate and the PPV sales, not from a network contract. People on this site are too ignorant to understand that.

Yeah thats what I reckon, it will sell out but at the last curtain call, to be expected its a crappy fight , but it is Floyd in his last fight so I think there will be a bunch that go to just say I seen him live .

If that guarantee is 35-40 mil, then it's a huge risk for Showtime, if the event under performs. SHO will have to pay him whatever the contract states regardless and the network could lose money. I'm thinking SHO & Floyd probably restructured their contract for this last fight, so SHO doesn't get eaten alive.

Outside of Floyd-Pac, I really wonder how many Floyd fights in the multi-fight contract actually made money for SHO.
