Its dumb to think they can't negotiate instead of letting someone buy the promotion. These are two elite level fighters, the promotion shouldn't be bought out.

I don't know the whole situation so don't crucify me but if I was either fighter or their team I wouldn't want my fighter who is the champion to be bought out of a better deal.

These are high tier guys, Stevenson is backed by The Ring belt and Kovalev is unanimously the people's champion who holds 3 belts + WBC interim. Disrespectful to not negotiate.

Kovalev has an exclusive deal with HBO to fight on HBO. Stevenson doesn't have any exclusive deal except thanking Al Haymon.

The only reason Stevenson isn't fighting on HBO is because of whose pockets he wants to fill. Kovalev's contract states he fights exclusively on HBO.

They don't want to do business doesn't mean they can't. Yeah, Kovalev beats him either way but if you're the promoter you get your guy the BEST deal even if your guy KOs the other guy 100%.

Oh right, he doesn't have the interim belt. He has the "Diamond" belt, whatever that means.
