Kazakhstan has great amateur program, they've been pretty good for at least 20 years or so. The only problem is that they don't turn pro. GGG is the first one opening the door, so hopefully after these 2016 Olympics we get some of these guys in the pros.
Kazakhstan probably has the best team at these Olympics along with Ireland, Cuba and Russia imo.

Merey Akshalov at 64kg (Light-Welter), Daniyar Yeleussinov at 69kg (Welter), Zhanibek Alimkhanuly at 75kg (Middle), Adilbek Niyazymbetov at 81kg (Light-Heavy), Vassiliy Levit at 91kg (Heavy), and Ivan Dychko at 91+kg (Super Heavy). All of them are basically Medal contenders, some even for the Gold.

There's more Kazakh Thunder coming for these haters!!!

    No love for Jirov...

Jirov was no where near as popular as GGG is now imo. Everybody loves GGG, except the usual haters. Hopefully, for sake of boxing fans more of his countrymen start turning over.
With the popularity GGG is having right now, this may encourage them to go pro.
Kazakhstan has a lot of talent, it's unbelievable.

Update: Ruslan Madiev aka GGG's little homie will be fighting Thomas "The Animal" Herrera tomorrow in Costa Mesa, CA.

Madiev will be looking to build on his undefeated 6-0 record against the tougher than nails Herrera who looks to get back on track and improve on his 4-14-1 record.

Those Hangar cards in Costa Mesa, CA are nuts with prospects. I wish I lived in that area. Definitely worth going to that show if you like prospects & in that area. The Mongolian 2012 Olympic silver medalist is on the card, GGG's little homie obviously & one of Haymon's young promising HW's, Stephen Shaw, & probably another 8-10 mid to higher level prospects are on this one.

Those shows are almost loaded with prospects. Not sure whats going on there, but those are some good cards for seeing up & coming talent. Good luck to GGG's lil homie!!!!!!!!!
