Exactly. Guys lost, guys moved up in weight, etc.I don't really see what Arum did wrong. He made Donaire-Walters, Walters won by KO and then lost his belt on the scales. Gradovich lost to his mandatory, Selby. Lomachenko was supposed to fight Walters but as mentioned, he failed to make weight and lost his belt.
For all of Arum's faults he's never been one to not match his guys against each other and make great fights among his own stable. He's always done that well.Comment

Walters fought a bum? He fought undefeated 20-0 Miguel Marriaga, a guy who beat Walters in the amateurs.Instead of Walters fighting a bum on HBO and Lomachenko fighting a bum on a PPV undercard, they should have went straight to Walters-Lomachenko. Letting that fight sit in Arum's jar of marinade killed an explosive matchup, just like Gamboa-Lopez.
Haymon needs to learn from this. No need to match his FWs vs. bums. Make these fights now. Santa Cruz-Cuellar and Russell Jr.-Selby. Winners fight each other. Winner fights Rigondeaux as he should be with Haymon by then.
Are you interested?
Arum was planning on having them fight in 2014, he wasn't having it "marinate" like Gomboa-Lopez at all, he was going to go right into it but Walters failed to make weight, was stripped his title and Loma wasn't interested anymore and Walters ended up moving up a weight class.
Again, Arum has a lot of faults but this isn't one of them. He has never had a problem matching his own guys against each other, other than the mentioned Gamboa-Lopez missed opportunity some years ago.Comment
