Discuss. Lol I felt like making an outrageous thread like you see often on boxing scene, I'm sorry but yes this was click bait. DO you see any similarities? Not many predicted Leo to win and I was one of few who picked Santa Cruz to grind out a decision.
Is Leo Santa Cruz the featherweight Margarito?

That's always been the comparison. If he had Margarito type power (insert plaster joke here) he'd be better than Margarito. He seems almost featherfisted since leaving 118 and that's going to hurt him moving forward.Comment

His chin looks solid enough and if he uses his reach, size and output to his advantage, I think he could outpoint/outwork a lot of fighters.Comment

NO, LSC has better defense when he deliver his punches and actually has technic. Unfair comparison just because he is a volume puncherComment

i have thought the same thing i mean there is no doubt there is a ton of similarities. the way they are built most of all they look similar and both are very lengthy. both love to come forward and out work their opponents. both of their power is generated in work load more then one punch power (as we all saw margarito had no power when he didnt have bricks in his gloves).
So yes i dont think its far fetched at all to say he is the featherweight version of margarito or at the very least they are very similar. I think hes got way more upside then margarito tho call me crazy but as we saw last night santa cruz can box he was able to use his length and keep the distance with his jab and hes good at punishing mistakes.
I wouldnt be surprised if he was a big maragarito fan when he was youngerComment

It's a pretty dated comparison, people have always said that.
He seems to have a little more boxing skill than Margarito but he's nowhere near as exciting.Comment
