Edit: ALSO his chin isn't that great either.
HAHA u called him porcelain. well i duno, i think his chin is weaker, his power is solid enough to get him 10 kos in 15 fights. and given hes at his largest weight possible already, he has pretty good power. (ie. manny and floyd have **** power at 147)

His chin might be alright, but there is just a point where the physical makeup of ones body will be what keeps you up or down. He has a skinny frame and skinny legs so he gets hit and things might register a little different for some...he might not be built huge shots like others.

But really, he has a defense that only he can pull off, but it is high risk - so there are times when he is completely wide open and exposed, but thinks he is out of harms way (and is most of the time. )

When I watch him - it's more like when he gets hit that will be the indicator of how bad he will get hurt - not how hard the opponent hits. It's not easy to hit him, but if you do you, it will be when he's open and you might hit paydirt. ( the way Amagasa turned with Rigo to scored that knockdown was brilliant I thought..look at where Rigo's hands are when that happened. He was wide open)

as far as getting back up - I think that speaks more to tremendous conditioning overall and not chins necessarily - although they are related of course. Bradley, JMM, they go down, they get up because of the outrageous shape they are in. They go down and then their reserve tank kicks. They are clean lifestyle guys, clear headed. Algieri, is a new addition to his group, there are others too. Maybe Rigo is in that group I really don't know because he isn't in a lot of fights. Shaky chin but excellent conditioning is a decent tradeoff, I wouldn't worry too much he's doing fine
THIS is a good post. fair points, good analysis.
i agree with many points, but its boring to talk about agreements.
i think a good chin can suffer knockdowns, but u dont do stanky legs wen u get up.
vs a bad chin, u go down, and if u do manage to get up, ull get up doing the stanky legs.
so i think rigo has a bad chin. he loses his legs when he gets tagged clean.

I wouldn't call Guillermo's chin either strong or glass. I also wouldn't say he is a weak puncher, especially given how small he is relative to who he fights. His straight left looks like it hurts.

Rigo has never been put down in all his amateur career they say, even though he has been put down vs Ramos and that japanese guy it somehow elevates him and he comes back angry and stronger and puts on a better fight. Somehow i want him to take a good shot so he can actually put on a good fight.

His chin is decent, but definetely not glass like Khan or Juanma Lopez.

Well he is 34 now, he usually smaller than his opponent... his lifespan as a fighter is different than others and harder to gauge professionally. GEtting up nad having to fight with extended periods of noodle legs could be a byproduct of where he is now IDK. If he does have china, I think he's treats it very well.

Maybe it's fine china, not that cheap ****. It can crack without completely falling apart and shattering- you can hold it together...put it back in the cabinet, behind the defense, and nobody who comes over for dinner will ever know the difference.

yea he tried to bluff it against amagasa, he didnt buy the bull**** and got the 2nd KD.

and he is old and small, it definitely contributes to his weak chin.

yes his lifespan as a pro is shorter relatively speaking. but why does that matter? what matters is now lol.

**** his chin. Does he not recover quickly? Does he not go on to continue outclassing other fighters? Dropping dudes are only a means to end the fight. If you can't end the fight against someone with a glass chin, then maybe dude's chin isn't glass at all. Yall bring up rigo's chin yet convienently leave out his worldclass talent. No one is his division or south of it is gonna beat him so what does his chin matter?

He basically got saved by the bell in that round. He was clearly hurt. His claim to fame is beating donaire who had a great run but at that point was flat footed and solely relying on his power. Great win, but aside from that, he's done nothing and is getting dropped by inferior dudes in Asia. Loma would embarrass him which is why his handlers steer him away from anyone decent.

He's probably just not used to getting tagged, doesn't like getting tagged, but doesn't mind getting tagged.

Rigo always looks like a mean mofo when he unleashes his left hand.

I don't see why anyone decent wouldn't want to fight him. He's looked vulnerable against guys no one has heard of. Fact is his handlers are milking that donaire win and know he's beatable.
