Comments Thread For: Anthony Ogogo Aims For Domestic Crown By End of '16

Anthony Ogogo is upbeat over the future despite dislocating his shoulder on his comeback from a year out with an Achilles injury.

The Olympic bronze medallist outpointed Ruslan Schelev in July to move to 8-0-KO4 almost exactly a year since his last fight - but sustained another injury that is likely to keep him out until Christmas.

Despite his enforced lack of activity in the ring, Ogogo is determined to finally fulfil his potential and believes without injuries, he would be challenging the likes of WBO middleweight champion Andy Lee by now.

This guys career has moved ridiculously slowly. A few injuries not helping the situation.

I really don't rate him at all though. Can't see him going far.

Also think signing with Golden Boy was a poor choice.

He did? I thought he was with Hearn or something.... or with Sauerland... or running a join thing with them... I don't know. I just know he's been gone forever

Almost positive he's been with Golden Boy since he first turned Pro coming off the Olympics in 2012.

Golden Boy UK or whatever it was.

He defintely was, whether or not he still is now I don't know but I would have thought so.

I think logically he should have signed with Matchroom or atleast a UK promoter.

Yeah Khan's with GoldenBoy but Khan's star power was astronomical during the Olympics, and even still he was with Frank Warren for quite a while first, he was with Warren when he beat Kotelnik for the title.

A fight with English champion Lewis Taylor next would be a good progressive move.

Pretty sure he signed with Golden Boy initially, then, early this year, signed a co-promotion deal with Sauerland.

Like Dan, I don't see him going far in the professional ranks.

              I like Ogogo, i think he's a good fighter.

He's had a bit of a nightmare so far though with injuries and such. His pro career has hardly got going.

Ogogo is signed with GB for fights in the US and signed with Sauerland for fights in Europe. Similar to how Andy Lee's promotional rights belong to DiBella only in the US and he's a free agent in Europe.

His medical issues have been fairly serious, but recoverable. Surgeries on both achillies and now his shoulder. He'll still be a good fighter come next year if his injuries go away and add some depth to the MW division. He'll make for some big UK fights against Eubanks and Saunders, maybe even his fellow GB stablemate Quigley.

David Haye said he was once asked by a fan "does the subway guy box for real?"

So far with ogogo's career the answer is no! But he's a special talent and I'm sure he'll win a world title eventually.
