It very well could be. He looks sharper, stronger, more fluid, and most importantly, more confident. Due to his recent opposition, it's still a question if it is smoke and mirrors, or if Cotto is legitmately at better fight under Roach.
His movement, defense, punch placement, power, all look great right now. If he beats Canelo in impressive fashion, I think it's proof his resurgence is genuine.Comment

No. Prime once again people simply equate to age or your "physical prime." A fighter and boxing is not merely a phsyical sport. I take everything into account of what makes a great fighter not just prime, it is not that simple.
Floyd at 33/34 was a MUCH better fighter than the version that ran all night from Chico. Anybody with good stamina can run their ass off and win. What Floyd does standing in the pocket and still being as hard to hit as he did while running is far more skillful. He can also still run if necessary.
Cotto has the same chin and average stamina he did at 25. He is clearly a better fighter now. He has more power, better technique, much more experience and far better defense than he did. He's the best he's ever been without a doubt, thinking otherwise is ******ity.
I also never said Canelo was in his prime. I said he's as good as he's ever been. Could he become a better fighter? Sure. Will he? How do I know? He could be the next Vargas in that he was good but never good enough. Maybe he gets better as he gets older I have no clue. But, the best Canelo so far is this version of him, that's what I'm saying.
I'm acknowledging both are currently at the best they've ever been.
My beef with your post is the statement claiming this version of Cotto as the best he's ever been.
Negative.
Also I think Canelo has accomplished enough already in his young career to surpass the possibility of being considered "good but not good enough".Comment

I agree, it hard to tell where Cotto is at since the competition has been really made for him to look good.Comment

I think Cotto is clearly a more offensive minded fighter since he got with Roach but I don't think that helps him in this one. He goes toe to toe with Canelo he gets stopped early IMO.
