I could see as being a big Tito fan that him winning rounds with Oscar giving them away as exciting as the possibility of victory was getting more and more real. But it was not thrilling or action packed at all.Comment

The actual fight should be more compelling and might turn into a classic. The Tito/Oscar fight was a dissapointment, this one might rival Tony/Cotto and Vargas/Tito.
Financially it won't even come close, and neither does it match the momentum Tito/Oscar had back then.Comment

No, it's not...
Oscar and tito were both prime, undefeated, top p4p guys, and between them had totally cleaned out welter division..
Canelo is prime, cotto is past prime, neither has cleaned out a division..neither is p4p, and both have humiliating losses..
I will be shocked if this PPv does over a million... Probably around the 600k mark, which is still a lot of buys.. Maybe as high as 800k
Age is nothing but a number, just when your experience reaches a certain level and your body is still in good shape that's your prime. That being said, Canelo is the best he's ever been and Cotto is the best he's ever been. This is the best time to make the fight.
I do have to admit, DLH and Tito were undefeated that was a big deal, neither of these guys aren't. This fight could match their PPV buys, will it happen? I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled in 1.4 million as well. 2 million is insane, 1 million is realistic.Last edited by Beater_of_ass; 08-28-2015, 12:39 PM.Comment

Oscar refusing to engage and relying on his corners advice to coast ******. Tito landed a few shots, but there was really nothing exciting IMO. Oscar robbed us of any late round drama.

But for me, being a fan of both, I was on edge watching all the high drama of the championship rounds unfold.Comment

Prime is the most overrated way to rate a fighter in history. Floyd at 33/34 was better than he was at 24. Manny was better when he was running through Cotto, Hatton and Oscar when he was 31 or so, not when he was 21.

And the current version of Cotto is prime, the best he's ever been lol?!

Floyd at 33/34 was a MUCH better fighter than the version that ran all night from Chico. Anybody with good stamina can run their ass off and win. What Floyd does standing in the pocket and still being as hard to hit as he did while running is far more skillful. He can also still run if necessary.
Cotto has the same chin and average stamina he did at 25. He is clearly a better fighter now. He has more power, better technique, much more experience and far better defense than he did. He's the best he's ever been without a doubt, thinking otherwise is ******ity.
I also never said Canelo was in his prime. I said he's as good as he's ever been. Could he become a better fighter? Sure. Will he? How do I know? He could be the next Vargas in that he was good but never good enough. Maybe he gets better as he gets older I have no clue. But, the best Canelo so far is this version of him, that's what I'm saying.
I'm acknowledging both are currently at the best they've ever been.Last edited by Beater_of_ass; 08-28-2015, 12:40 PM.Comment
