It really isn't difficult to understand. Barry Hearn was obviously at the meeting(s) (Barry Hearn tweeted a photo of him and Arum) because their relationship goes back further although Eddie Hearn actually runs the boxing at matchroom. Why is Bob Arum negotiating a fighter deal with Barry Hearn for a Matchroom Sport fighter, when Eddie Hearn (his son) is the actual party who speaks for Matchroom Sport? To here folks tell it, Eddie Hearn is largely the sole reason why Matchroom Sport is even back in boxing.
Whether it's Arum talking to Khan (without working through Haymon), talking to Chavez Sr (without working out the deal with Chavez Jr's actual manager), or a host of other slights, there continue to be examples of Arum always trying to undercut fights and stiff someone.
Just imagine, Eddie Hearn, calling up Michael Koncz, and hammering out a deal to bring Pacquiao out to fight Kell Brook; how would Arum react to that? lolComment

Im sure arum is smart enough to know when he is being used.Truth is Hearn has been using Arum's fighters, screwing him in effect, to make it look like he's got alternatives to Khan and Frampton. Rios was another victim of Hearn's negotiating tactic where his focus is on a specific fighter like Khan, and in this case Hearn is using Donaire to force Frampton into the negotiating table.
Hearn wants Frampton, not Donaire.Comment

I hope the fight does happen because donaire vs quig is one of the best fights in the division.I think arum should forget about dubai and just send donaire to the uk to fight quig.Comment

Sounds very promising...
Interesting matchup... Doñaire would be the logical favorite, but he has looked so shaky since the rigo fight, and quigg is coming into his own as a fighter and probably entering his peak or close to it... I think it's a very interesting fight and sounds like it's gonna happenComment

Bottom line is as soon as Frampton decides to enter the negotiations, Hearn will drop Donaire like a sack of potatoes. He wants fights in the UK and total control of the promotion. Plus Donaire is too risky for his fighter.Comment

I have Quigg to beat Donaire, and I'd be a little surprised if he isn't the betting favorite.Sounds very promising...

I have no doubt that Barry Hearn is still the boss at Matchroon (darts, snooker, etc), but I was always under the impression that Barry Hearn left the boxing decisions to Eddie.Comment

Barry can smile and take whatever pictures he wants with his old friend Bob; if Eddie is the one that actually runs the boxing division of Matchroom Sport, Arum coming to an agreement with Barry Hearn means near nothing (Eddie likely respects his father, and values whatever advise that he can offer, but I doubt Barry is making the decision).
Not sure if you follow pro wrestling, but it'd be akin to a regional promoter going to Vince McMahon Sr (after he sold the company to Vince Jr) and expecting Vince Sr to usurp the decisions made by Vince Jr, who was actually running the company; Jr may have listened to advice from his old man, but that wasn't going to supersede his own decision making.Comment

He obviously meant that he has come to an agreement with Matchroom. Are you just clinging to any old reason to attack Bob Arum or are you really just a bit dim?Barry can smile and take whatever pictures he wants with his old friend Bob; if Eddie is the one that actually runs the boxing division of Matchroom Sport, Arum coming to an agreement with Barry Hearn means near nothing (Eddie likely respects his father, and values whatever advise that he can offer, but I doubt Barry is making the decision).
