Because his body grew too fast,, he was a youngster at 112 and killed himself to make the weight the last few fights there.. He never really had a chance because he rapidly filled, out to 122

he lost his 112 belt at the scales. couldn't make it.

leaving teen years + money for food + maybe drinking/partying after winning a championship

when youre a poor, starving teen you can make 112 easier than in your 20's.

Crazy to think Manny holds 8 division titles. Even if you don't want to count 154, nobody else holds 7 division titles either.

At 6 divisions the only other guy is Oscar De La Hoya.

Then at 5 divisions he shares that with Leonard, Hearns, Mayweather, De La Hoya. Donaire too if you count his WBA Interim belt at Super Flyweight.

U gotta turn pro very early so that u can make thr lighter weights then move up in weight as ur body naturally grows, Manny turned pro at 16-17 and was still a kid back then, he didn't have an extensive amateur career, fighters in America don't turn pro so early cuz they fight as amateurs first, so having a good amateur career and winning a medal in the olympics then turn pro is also impressive cuz u also fight the best in the world.

oh wow, that is pretty crazy.
but then i kinda feel like the lower weights are easier to move up in (105 -> 135) than say from starting from 135 and move up to 175.
of course age is a huge factor too though.
