he also said the weight affected him. he was dropped in the first round of that fight IIRC.

there's a bscene interview where he basically says that he's got to believe and say that he's not drained at 154, even if he is. i can't copy and paste it, but here's the link:

Andy Lee had just been in Madison Square Garden in New York City seven weeks beforehand on the undercard to Miguel Cotto’s middleweight championship win over Sergio Martinez. On that night, he got knocked down in the first round by John Jackson but was able to score a one-punch knockout out of nowhere in the fifth round. Lee was back in the Big Apple to support Mike Perez, the unbeaten heavyweight from Cuba who fights out of Ireland. Lee, who is 30 years old and is 33-2 with 23 KOs, chatted briefly with BoxingScene.com on July 25.

one of the reasons for moving down to 154 was the beating he took against JR, who was just too much for him physically. JR used drugs to make 160, and would come into the ring as a f#cking cruiserweight.

i'm trying to find a specific picture of lee next to manny steward and some standard ring ropes. they're working with the mitts. he's very, very big. he's 6'2" tall, and has broad shoulders.

here's a picture of him weighing in at 154. he looks very dry, particularly as you look at his back here, or his stomach and face in other pictures.

Yes. Andy was dropped in the first round for the first time in his amateur or pro career.

which, for me, would be an indication of a struggle to make 154 lbs. i don't know a ton about jackson, of course. i do know that he's the son of the hardest 154 lb puncher of all time, and that some of that pop has got to run in the family.

The weight cut without a doubt affected his chin. Plus Jackson, like his daddy, can punch like a son of a *****.
