My only point is, even if Paulie can't outpoint Cotto, I still think he's fast enough to avoid Cotto's bombs until the last bell rings, and then everyone will be saying that Cotto couldn't even KO a supposed bum with no power and no resume.

There is no basis or past history that points in the direction of Paulie Malinaggi to win this fight...period.

Have you ever played the ponies?

When you go to a racetrack and you read a from you dont bet a horse who has been involved in 5K claiming races when that horse is moving up and racing in 150K claiming races.

When you take an underdog like Paulie or a 5K horse then your prediction shouldnt be credited if it comes true it should be taken for exactly what it was...a ****ing miracle.

Cotto has fought a bunch of legit guys...Paulie has never ever ever fought even semi-legit guys...I just dont see how any boxing scribe who has half a brain can pick Paulie unles they just like to dare to be different.

    Folllow the evidence!

      yep they must have signed

      Miguel Cotto:

      http://boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=033535

      and Jose Luis Castillo:

      http://boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=008837

must have signed to fight each other for the WBO light welterweight title, but I'm sure that the contract is valid only if Cotto doesn't suffer a disaster against Malignaggi and Castillo comes out of his fight with Corrales in good health. The contract might include contingencies about whether Cotto or Castillo win in their earlier bouts. I'm sure that we will hear about it soon.

Castillo's fight with Corrales is for the WBC Lightweight Title so the result of this fight won't change the status of the fight in November between Cotto and Castillo, which is for the WBO light welterweight title.

However, the Malignaggi-Cotto fight in June is for the WBO Light Welterweight Title, and if Malignaggi wins we may see Malignaggi against Castillo in November instead of Cotto.

This may sound confusing but it's not any worse than what we have in the playoffs in football these days.

Look, I understand your point, but for one, I'm not betting anything on Paulie, nor am I a fan of his, but based on pure ability (mainly footwork and ring generalship) Paulie is a flat out runner and Cotto is a plodder, period. If Paulie gets hit at all with anything significant, this fight will become a race, and I can't see Cotto being able to catch Paulie unless his legs go away, which I've never seen happen to him. If Paulie were to win the fight, I wouldn't expect anyone to call me brilliant, that's not how I am. I am just making an observation that I think he has the skills, even if he is still unproven, it's still up to him to do it. I really don't think too much about whether others think I know what I'm talking about, for me it's just fun to think about how the fight could play out, and see if it plays out that way. I have never posted in order to gain recognition or credibility, I just enjoy discussing boxing.
I'm not necessarily picking Paulie, the point I was really trying to make was that Cotto isn't all he's cracked up to be, and he's not going to blast Paulie like many think he will.
If Cotto beats Paulie, he won't beat Castillo.
In that fight I AM picking Castillo, and by KO.
If you're looking to hold me to a prediction, hold me to that one. If I'm wrong, then so be it lol

First of all Castillo needs to win his fight against Chico first for this fight to happen, I'm 99% sure that Cotto will win his fight against Paulie.

Cotto will hit a brick wall when he faces Castillo and crumble to dust. Castillo is stronger, hits harder, and has a much stronger chin. Cotto will be hard pressed to beat JLC in a brawl and he sure as hell can't outbox him if Mayweather had trouble doing that.

Malignaggi has a better chance against Cotto than Cotto does against JLC.

If Cotto beats Paulie, I'm sure he will beat Castillo, easily, than I can add him on this list...
