I don't think Stevenson has ever been chomping at the bit to get in the ring with Kovalev. I don't buy that he's "scared" of him either. That's just the way fight fans think now.

That said, Kovalev, his team, and his fans lost the right to play the "duck" card when Duva walked away from the purse bid. Its almost like the Floyd-Manny situation. Where the side that was screaming "duck" is making themselves very easy to "duck."

Good that Stevenson is firing back at Kovalev and his team, they are the ones who pulled out of the purse bid, I hope the back and forth trash talk is a part of hyping up the fight, Stevenson is already 37 and if he loses any of his next fights, a fight with Kovalev would never happen, and that would suck major d1ck.

It would have been PPV, so nobody knows how much money would have been generated. Maybe Adonis would have ended up with more than he would have got from Haymon.

Whatever, it would still be the biggest fight and the biggest payday of Stevenson's career, and the offer to do it is still open.

The purse bid is basically networks bidding to broadcast the fight and the highest bidder gets to broadcast the fight and give the fighters the respective purses, and of course a fight of this magnitude would be a PPV fight even if it was on PBC.

Duva and her ties to HBO is a major roadblock and because of this the offer is not really open cuz the 2 sides can't agree on a network, which is the most important thing, if Kovalev and his team were dying to make the fight like they claim, they woulda taken the purse bid and told HBO to go screw themselves if they can't pay the fighters good enough, which should be Duva's main goal, getting her fighter the biggest fights and most money, not keeping her relationship with a certain network.

Same **** happened during the Mayweather vs Pacquiao situation, in 2012 before Pacquiao fought Bradley, his contract with Arum was about to run out and Mayweather offered him to sign with Mayweather promotions or Golden Boy and the fight could've been made in a second, talks between Koncz and Mayweather's team also took place at that time, and if Pacquiao's team were really dying to make the fight they would've taken that offer, at the end of the day, a cut was gonna get taken from Pacquiao purse if he was with Arum or with Golden Boy or Mayweather promotions, but apparently they didn't want the fight as bad as they said they did.
