you dont have to be part of a narrative to see the obvious when it came to raheem, raheem beat morales when morales was off the pacquiao win, many ppl didnt expect raheem to win. he won while ppl were hyping up pac-moralles II, when morales loss, raheem called pacquiao out. pacquiao instead of facing the man that won, opted to fight the loser, bringing him down in weight and off an embrassing loss. point blank. raheem might have never became a HOF or great, but the morales win certainly at that time made him the main target for pacquiao.

Not the only time Pacquiao fought someone that's coming off a loss or in a bad spot in his career, Dela Hoya had already lost to Mayweather a year earlier and he was made to drop down a WHOLE weight class, u had Cotto who just got physically, mentally and emotionally destroyed by Margarito a year earlier in a fight where he got his face cut up and disfigured, then looked like **** against B level Clottey and in some people's eyes actually lost, then Clottey coming of the Cotto loss, then Margarito coming off a KO loss where he was destroyed by Mosley, and that was also at 150 not 54, then Mosley who had just got dominated for 11 rounds against Floyd Mayweather and then looked like **** fighting a nobody and of course the top is Rios, who never won a fight at 147 before, coming off a loss to C+ level Alvarado. This is how Arum works, and I expect the young guys that are with Arum to have the same kind of career like Pacquiao, 1 great win then record padding by beating big names at a bad spot in their careers

He was one of my favourite fighters. Shame he never lived up to his potential.

The beginning of the end for Guzman was when he missed weight for Campbell. Started coughing blood and was dehydrated and the fight was off. that's that beer and platano diet that caused him to miss weight so much and miss out on paydays. I can't say I feel too bad for him to be honest.

It's obvious he is not a hall of famer, that shouldn't even be spoken about at all.

Jesus, ever thread gets turned into a Pacquiao thing.

As for Guzman, i used to enjoy watching him, but i'd forgot all about him of late. He had potential and i was always waiting for him to really kick off.

Was a very good fighter that never lived up to his potential, I hope he doesn't have to eat bologna sandwiches for the rest of his life though.

Ah "what could have been" is sadly what is always going to be said whenever Guzman comes up. Amazing talent but unfortunately a terrible work ethic. He was amazing in the lower weight classes. Promotional/management issues, combined with a bad work ethic wasted away his talent and career and he was never able to showcase that talent on a big stage.

Before there was Rigondeaux there was Guzman, in the sense that he was so good at out boxing his opponents easily that the popular phrase amongst promoters was "he's boring, not worth fighting he just runs". I remember Bob Arum using that excuse after Guzman easily handled Soto and the winner was supposed to fight Pacquiao. Top Rank went with the more lucrative fight in a barrera rematch.

Can't blame Pacquiao for not fighting Raheem there. Morales beat Pacquiao and they already agreed to have a rematch after each take a fight. Pac won his Morales lost his but they already agreed to fight and Pacquiao wanted to avenge his loss. Raheem lost a fight after that which ruined his chances. If he would have stayed relevant I'm sure they could have got the Pacquiao fight after beating Morales but he fell off.

                    Wasted talent and potential.

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
