Comments Thread For: Nacho Tabs Canelo To Beat Cotto in a Tough Fight

Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain is picking Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs) to overtake WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33KOs) of Puerto Rico on November 21st at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Canelo is seen as the favorite in the contest, despite that fact that Cotto knocked out his last three opponents in style. Canelo has stopped two of his last three, but had issues during last July's fight with WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara.

I often ponder how good Canelo could be if he were trained by Beristain.

He would have more technical nuances to his game for sure.

It takes time for Nacho's style to really sink in though, and a lot of guys don't have the patience to stick it out so he isn't always the best trainer for everyone.

Yep. Canelos downfall will be his trainers he has now. I think they have taught all they could to him and he can't get any better under them. They are Yes Men and he doesn't listen to them. The only way he gets rid of them is if he gets destroyed.

This do called resurgence by Cotto is a myth. It's been created by good matchmaking. His last legit win was Yuri Foreman, maybe Mayorga. After his losses to Floyd & Trout he beat Delvin Rodriguez, one legged Sergio at a catchweight, C-Level Geale at a catchweight. Before that he beat a one eyed Margarito. They were calling Cotto done after his losses to Floyd & Trout. The only thing that has changed is his level of competition. This should be easy work for Canelo. If he struggles with Cotto maybe he really isn't that great.

I'm not sold on Canelo. If he's supposed to be this killa their making him out to be he should destroy Pacquiao, Floyd, Trout's leftovers. Cotto has beat to competition but at this point he's done. Canelo's best win is a highly controversial win against Lara. If Canelo is truly the future of boxing he should destroy Cotto

Bro, you dont know chit about boxing.

You all "experts" had Yuri beating Cotto.

You all had Mayorga "breaking down" Cotto and stopping him/making him quit.

You all had Floyd "Gatting" Cotto and destroying him.

You all had "one eye" Margacheto making Cotto quit again.

Most of you got Delvin taking Cotto to a war.

All of you rate Geale as GGG best win....yet, Cotto stops him as clearly as or even more impressive than GGG and Cotto cherry picked.

So...you say that the only way that Cotto wins vs Canelo is that he was not as "great"? So, you are not going to give Cotto any credit after he destroys and stops your boy Canelito? GTFO with that bullchit bro!

I LOL at your punny little minds. Hippocrates of the sport. You dont know chit about boxing son! Red K!
