I didn't say he's beneath him. But I wouldn't call this opponent a top ten Heavyweight either.

Simple answer to the question really, this fight is all about nationwide exposure on a free to air channel. I mean does America even know it has a world titleist ? He's been starring in commercials etc with his home fan base behind him I expect he could be facing Klitschko in Vegas next out.

He did almost beat Erkan Teper and he does hold a victory over Klitschko opponent Manuel Charr. As far as money spinning voluntary defenses go this one isn't that bad.

Povetkin will get his chance afterwards. Assuming Wilder doesn't lose of course. Which, after watching his last fight, isn't out of the realm of possibility...he looked so raw still.

Almost beat Erkan Teper? Is that good enough to warrant a title shot these days?

Jesus. This is a disgusting cherry pick worthy of title stripping.

I knew Wilder would be bad, but I couldn't have foreseen the last two fights.

If they wanted to get Wilder more ring work, why can't they find someone in the top 10? This guy's claim to fame is that he has never been KO'd. So if Wilder can't KO him, what does that really tell us? NOTHING

All you people who doubted him against stervine I never got a reply because you probably felt silly and that same feeling is going to keep on happening. Glass jaw? Your ridiculous. Once he hits the canvas in a pro bout then you can say that. What's that? Oh you say amaeturs you mean the time where he was fighting with what 1-2 years of boxing under his belt. Grow up wilder haters and get on board your just going to keep on getting disappointed. We all know you think povetkin is your savior but pleaSe please save this comment until after the povetkin fight so I can laugh at all of you while no one replies back because you will all feel like fools.
I think your missing the point of the criticism here.
You stated that " Johann will not win one single round" and that's the problem. This guy is hand picked to lose.

Wilders keeps picking guys that are no challenge.
This is Wilders second title defense against a non top ten fighter>
It is a bit ridiculous to be a champion with 33 knocks ,undefeated and have not one but two title defenses against against very weak opposition in a row .

it's a delay tactic, nothing more. they know wilder loses to povetkin and want to squeeze as much money out of him as possible before it happens

I'm sorry let me rephrase that. As Molina proved, any top 20 heavyweight can give Wilder trouble and possibly beat him. Wilder has to fight a perfect fight every time out because he isn't that good.

Ah, so stay busy fights are ok for Wilder but not for Golovkin ?

You guys are all hypocrits with double standards. Golovkin has to jump up a division and fight the PfP #2 and stretch for greatness and is NOT allowed any stay busy fights with out being shat on.

Wilder is fine having stay busy fights against guys no-one has ever heard of. And then you crap on GGG for fighting guys like Geale and Rubio and Stevens - at least they are known and in the case of Geale a former champion.
