Valid point. And I think his need for development and rounds is why this fight makes sense from his side (as noted). That doesn't make it a good idea. There are plenty of legit top ten Heavyweights with no fights scheduled right now. Two fights against the sort of non-en****** he was already fighting before Stiverne isn't stay busy, as some would call it. It's stay Wilder.

Duhaupas isn't a world beater but he has fought a few decent opponents. He fights a lot in foreign countries. People trash the Teper & Charr fights but I thought they were both entertaining with lots of punches thrown. Both very close fights. It is a stay busy fight & the Povetkin fight will be next. That Russian promoter has been saying he plans to put a huge purse bid in so I'm assuming Wilder's team knows they are going to get paid handsomely on a 75/25 split so why wouldn't they wait until the purse bid is ordered? The WBC called for negotiations to start in October & the fight to be in January. They said this before the Molina fight so Wilder's team thought another fight in September was a good idea especially if they can get 17000 into that arena they booked. I don't see the problem unless Wilder loses. I'm just surprised Povetkin took the Wach fight in November. That will push the Wilder fight back. Wilder could lose or get hurt & so could Povetkin. Maybe they should have just fought but I see why Wilder is doing what he is doing but Povetkin fighting Wach is a riskier move. A wilder loss would throw a huge payday away against Povetkin & so would a Povetkin loss or injury. Let's hope they both win & come out unscathed...

You stated that " Johann will not win one single round" and that's the problem. This guy is hand picked to lose.

Wilders keeps picking guys that are no challenge.
This is Wilders second title defense against a non top ten fighter>
It is a bit ridiculous to be a champion with 33 knocks ,undefeated and have not one but two title defenses against against very weak opposition in a row .

Ok so who would you want to see him fight in this position granted this is the fight before povetkin so who would you want to see him fight. We know it can't be fury, klit, AJ or povetkin because povetkin is next so name one that you think he should fight. All this glass jaw stuff is ridiculous. I don't know how people think povetkin is going to beat wilder. Yeah he will be tough but he won't beat wilder. I'd love for wilder to fight fury right now but impossible but who else is there that's up there that people would be happy with? Bryant Jennings? He'll get blown out.

Interesting that you spelt out the levels in the HW division. You see Klitschko way above anyone else but who do you see as the second level fighters? Povetkin, Fury ? and who else?

And mark my words deontay will beat povetkin as well. Feel free to pour on all the crap if I'm wrong but just wait and see until I'm right. All you people who doubted him against stervine I never got a reply because you probably felt silly and that same feeling is going to keep on happening. Glass jaw? Your ridiculous. Once he hits the canvas in a pro bout then you can say that. What's that? Oh you say amaeturs you mean the time where he was fighting with what 1-2 years of boxing under his belt. Grow up wilder haters and get on board your just going to keep on getting disappointed. We all know you think povetkin is your savior but pleaSe please save this comment until after the povetkin fight so I can laugh at all of you while no one replies back because you will all feel like fools.
Pretty sure this fat, out of shape milk dud did it.

How is fighting Wach risky? Wach is a heavy bag with arms. He's a chance for Povetkin to practice hitting a tall target.

To cash a check & stay fighting I assume. For his level of poor opposition this fight ain't even that bad is the real problem for Wilder. Outside of Bermane this is probably one of his top 5 opponents lol.

Fury is a hair ahead of Wilder in terms of proven stuff, but that's really the next tier after Povetkin. The next level after that is guys like Charr, Jennings, Glazkov, Cunningham, the elder Chagaev. By this time next year, I could see Joshua and/or Parker ahead of just about anyone but Wlad. That's the real future of the division. Joshua is a little more refined than Parker at this stage. I'd take Joshua to beat Wilder now. Parker is pick 'em. It's an increasingly fun class.
