Comments Thread For: Thurman Explains Why Spence Has Not Earned The Fight

WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith 'One Time' Thurman (26-0, 22KOs) has zero interest in facing rising contender Errol Spence Jr. (17-0, 14KOs).

Thurman had been pursuing a fight with WBC/WBA super champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs), who countered back by advising Thurman to face Spence instead.

Once Mayweather started the Thurman-Spence hype trainer, it continued to roll as Mayweather continued to mention the fight in several interviews.

Spence is still a prospect but he's no worse than who Keith is fighting now. Beating spence is more impressive than beating collazo. I think he's losing his confidence.

Yo Thurman! Why not go and bust that ass now and gt him out of the way....don't wait until he gets BETTER! Then you are going to have a beast on your hands. Knock him out now and if he rebounds then you've got a big money sequel.

They wont be able to avoid Spence for long. These guys still talking Floyd and callin out Floyd well Floyd is retiring once he's out the picture they will have no choice but to fight each other, all these guys Khan, Thurman with that "earn your shot" talk. They act like they are making MEGA bucks to fight lol Khan earns about 1.5 and Thurman's barely or probably not even a millionaire yet. STOOOP it

I don't understand why Keith is not talking about Kell Brook. Khan has no strap! Porter has no strap! Brook came to the U.S. and took Porter's belt, so why not go to the UK and take Brook's belt?

I'd be surprised if Spence &/or his team would accept that fight even if it was offered so I'm with Thurman on this. I don't think Thurman even needs to explain himself here.

Didn't read the article because I don't care about the reasons. They shouldn't be fighting each other yet.

Did you guys forget Tim Bradley-Devon Alexander?
