Floyd's retirement in 2008 has nothing to do with the Pacquiao fight. That fight wasn't even being take seriously until 2009. People always accuse a boxers retirement of a way to "duck" fights. They did it with Sugar Ray Leonard and they did it with Lennox Lewis. If you retire at the top "you're ducking" but if you keep fighting past your best days you're "washed up." People will always find an excuse.

And I'm sorry but because things aren't fair does not make them right or accurate.

Yep this is one of the reasons why fighters don't retire on top, they don't want to be accused of ducking a fighter.

How is that when Mayweather is the older man? I'm getting sick of the past prime talk. In 2009 Mayweather was even sharper and even more precise. Hell, he might have dropped him. On this forum Manny is the only one that could have declined. Mayweather is just so good that you barely see it. When was Floyds prime years? You pick a date. He's still winning wide decisions. His CV is overrated by some. He's obviously a elite fighter. But if you're calling the likes of Ortiz, Guerrero and Maidana great wins (see several threads made over the last 24 hours), then you're overrating those wins.
