I completely agree. Of course there is positives and negatives to PBC. For one, because you have a large degree of harsh critics on each side of the spectrum it is forcing the platforms to be more competitive. HBO has had to raise the bar and push for the quintessential "entertaining" fights that need to happen inside their stars divisions. Haymon is taking a more orthodox approach and selling fights solely on the basis of which names sound "good" with each other. The match ups seem great but under close examination you have one guy who SHOULD win and the other who might have been able to beat said fighter on their best night in their prime. How much a fighter has fallen off from their prime really isn't taken into consideration with PBC. Only thing that seems to matter is resume vs resume. And I will say this, even though Porter vs Broner was not as aesthetically pleasing as we thought it would be, it was still a great match up for PBC. Same with Garcia and Lamont that needed to happen. But with Porter vs Broner, Porter was not supposed to win and Haymon was taking a gamble. That's why you had that whole 145 lb catchweight and rehydration clause fiasco. They did everything in their power to hinder Porters performance but luckily backed off the rehydration clause. Of course Malinaggi vs Garcia who knows what was with that. Sounds like some back door deals where Paulie was promised a fight almost like with Berto for Mayweather. My other complaint is with Thurman. Here you have Thurman. A young in his prime lion, and he is fighting guys who are clearly passed it and never were good to begin with. Spence is a viable opponent but Thurman claims his stock is worth much more then Spence and deserves a better more proven name. One of the things I am most surprised about which I assumed PBC would be doing is having PBC's stable fight much more often. I mean you got guys like Algieri, Broner, Khan, Lamont, and many many more who should be fighting much more often and raising there stock. Instead it's just like they are going through the motions of fighting bum, okay opponent, good opponent...repeat. I just assumed with this platform of having cable access for fights they would want to be fighting as much as possible.
One thing about PBC is weekends without boxing are rare

thank you thats what we need to get back to. the reality is the product is improving for the fans on all sides and the competition is improving and the competition will only continue to improve the match making. this is real competition now and the winners in that are the fans. Ya we might have fights we might not get to see because of it which sucks it does but thats going to happen regardless with the the network contracting fighters and such. i just feel pbc in that sense is doing good for the sport i think it truly is building competition which is making for more and better fights for the fans. I hate arum think hes a piece of **** but i ndont want to see him fail or his fighters fail etc. i still get excited if he makes big fightsLast edited by Cinci Champ; 08-22-2015, 12:23 PM.Comment

PBC will be fine for a Promotion, Company or what ever that is only 6 Month Old. Fans are thinking Short Term while Haymon is likely think LONG TERM. He has Multiple Networks at his Disposal for the next few years, it is no need to rush and do all of your match ups this early. Sit back and let them boil over and let fans keep b1tching and let your competition shoot their load. Then maybe next year you start to pull out the big guns and blow the competition away because by then they really won't have many options.

But yes, I love having Boxing Every Weekend, I don't care about College Football taking away ratings from Boxing, if you can still turn in decent ratings vs College Football that is an accomplishment. Boxing has it fans, not everybody is an American Football FanComment

Yes. Arum is awful but I still tune in. As for Haymon, I don't necessarily approve of everything he does (like the rumor of a Haymon belt which seems to have died down, and him trying to keep all the fights "in-house"). He's put on mismatches as well as good, competitive, fights but if he's doing it to build stars and match them up in the future then it's understandable. I won't complain about more boxing on TVthank you thats what we need to get back to. the reality is the product is improving for the fans on all sides and the competition is improving and the competition will only continue to improve the match making. this is real competition now and the winners in that are the fans. There is no more to it point blank period, anyone associated with Floyd is hated...Oscar was the devil until Floyd stopped dealing with him now all the sudden he is saving boxing. He has always put up good fights but they were blinded by this bull**** pick sides war...Haymon has given up more fights to watch with world class fighters...ENJOYComment

The thing about not liking Haymon because of Mayweather is entirely untrue, at least in my case. I am, and have consistently been since I got into boxing, a Floyd fan. That doesn't mean I excuse everything he does, because sometimes he's frustrating as hell. But in general I appreciate his greatness and root for him when he fights.
That said, I can't stand Haymon's involvement in boxing today. In 2013 I was okay with him, because even though I saw him as the primary reason for the "cold wars" in boxing, he was still involved in putting together a lot of GREAT cards on Showtime. Since then he's had a dismal 2014 (seriously...he insulted every boxing fan with some of those cards and matchups) and a so-so 2015. Let's not forget, for every LSC-Mares, there are 5 or 10 Quillin-Strippers. Friday Night Fights never advertised itself the way this does. We're supposed to accept whatever bad matchups are forced down our throats, and they expect this will turn their young fighters into stars. News flash: it won't happen. A fighter needs to overcome the odds to become a star. That's what Lemieux is trying to do in October. That's what Quillin, Jacobs, Garcia (post Matthysse), Wilder, Thurman, Figueroa etc etc. never have to do. Because they're with Al, and he protects them.Comment
