not even people in montreal (his hometown) care anymore. thats why he is fighting in some mediocre arena in toronto.

if he were more popular he could easily sell out air canada centre. a much better more well known toronto venue. what a joke. i hope his popularity completely collapses for good.

stevenson has a good defense unless he gets tired..vs fonfara he got tired and the jab started to work against him...but to his credit he hurt fonfara so many times and expended to much energy to finish him so i almos give him a pass on being tired..but he should have took a round or 2 off..he's just not that type of fighter..but with bika he never got tired and he had bika hurt a few times as well...fonfar was his first fight after haymon paid him a lot...may have got careless ya know with his diet and lifestyle

Stevenson says Duva used him to get an HBO contract, then ducked him?

How would that even work?

Duva comes to HBO and says, here's Stevenson, we want to fight him and will fight him, even though that fight won't come to HBO as Al Haymon and HBO don't get along. HBO say, that's great, here's the contract. Then Duva says oops, won't fight Stevenson. Leaving both HBO and Stevenson conned?

Stevenson's name didn't help Duva get HBO contract. Now BHop's titles, that's another matter. Stevenson and his manager gave Duva a gift when they messed BHop around so he got fed up and made the fight with Duva in 2 days. If Kovalev had 1 title and Stevenson had 3, Duva would think twice about signing with HBO.

Besides, don't forget, Stevenson has no contract with Showtime. He has a contract with Al Haymon. Stevenson (in theory) is free to fight on HBO.

The party that needs to be put pressure on here is HBO. They should bankroll Duva's bid for the purse bid. And if they lose they should let Haymon run the fight. Kovalev is likely to win it and come back to their network as the only unified champ in boxing. They should take a risk.

Stevenson is one of my favorites too watch, at times he does look superman like with the speed, power and footwork. Karpency is a tough guy who's comes to fight, can't wait.

It's different cause Stevenson is from maybe the best boxing hometown in North America, till recently Canada's only champ, lineal, and he somehow manages to do poorly at home, cause everybody's tired of his mismatches.
