Ward is damn near like a boxer of the past with his lack of doing anything meaningful in so long. I think you can have a more impressive resume & thats part of it, but there is a Janet Jackson what have you done for me lately angle to it too & so far Ward is just fighting guys beneath him after his long hiatus & GGG is headlining PPV's vs other title holders.
Golovkin-Lemieux is openly talked of as expecting to do 200k-300k PPV buys; Cotto-Canelo is supposed to do +750k PPV buys (whether Ward is on the card is the difference between me buying the PPV and hosting a party or simply heading to a bar to watch for $20 plus drinks).

Still, until the PPV actually gets aired, all this talk of "Golovkin is the A-side" is quite premature, made more obvious by Loeffler insinuating a 50/50 split in the Rafael hypothetical.

Ward had a fight in June, is apparently being positioned for a fight in November, and will likely be fighting again early 2016. Ward's getting active again, and the media outlets are getting used to seeing his face, acknowledging his ability throughout.

      • I have no problem with GGG himself as a fighter. Just the fans who believe he is somehow this revolutionary exception to the rule of "picking an choosing" and a guy who fights "everybody" and "doesn't care about the money". etc.

He's making the same "business" decisions as Mayweather or anyone else. He's calling himself the A-Side because he feels entitled and is falling in low with his hype. He's good, exciting and powerful. However, he's in need of a signature win to truly cement himself as a top fighter people can believe in. Ward is in need of a reminder signature win. A reminder of who he is and why he has been a top P4P fighter.

They need each other and at least one of them needs to do whatever is possible to make the fight happen to prove their point.

He hasn't beaten anyone of note in 3 years. And will most likely fight another bum but this time on an undercard. Because they lose money on him as a main attraction. So while his resume looks good 4 years ago, he can no way be called the A side, it's just delusional.
Ward put over 11k people into Oracle for the Kessler fight, over 11k people into Oracle for the Dawson fight, and put near 10k people into Oracle for the Paul Smith fight; the Dawson gate was confirmed as having brought in over $700k at the gate.

Why keep shilling nonsense that you know not to be true?

Leoffler was being respectful to Hopkins in the interview basically saying "we're not interested in Hopkins, perhaps some other time who knows".

People are reaching HARD with the Al Haymon Lara talk, as if the 154 pounder is even remotely a threat to Golovkin. The only legit talk here is with Ward, who is a weight class above Golovkin and it's clear K2 aren't interested in Ward this moment when they are mandatory to Cotto/Canelo winner.

What we do know is that the lineal middleweight champ decided to fight Daniel Geale instead of #1 challanger and mandatory in Golovkin, so there is that of course.
Perhaps some other time? Hopkins isn't gonna get any younger.

Lara??? GGG's team said no to the lara fight and fought monroe cuz "hes more known"

Yes Cotto fought Geale as a voluntary defense. I did have issue with Canelo getting the fight before GGG, but GGG accepted the step aside money so they can't complain about that situation no more.

Ward has no trouble cashing bigger pay checks than the Triple Duck. Care to explain WHY?
