I just dont understand your stance on having GGG move up to fight Ward when you arent demanding Ward fight the champ in the very same division that he currently fights in.

GGG has no easy task against Lemeiux and hopefully gets the winner of Cotto/Canelo next. If not I wouldnt mind watching him chase Erislandy "hussain bolt" Lara around the ring either. GGG has options at 160 whereas Ward's list of quality opponents is slim to none.
I explained the difference already. If you feign ignorance, that's on you. Ward nor his fans complained about having a problem finding quality opponents to fight.

Lemeuix has a slight punchers chance, please do not act like HBO would put him in a difficult fight on his 1st PPV, HBO has NEVER done this with the guys they are giving as huge push.

Yes, right now the pendulum is beginning to shift toward GGG having better options. If Canelo beats Cotto I think we see Canelo/GGG. If cotto wins, I think he fights Floyd and GGG is in the same spot.

I won't deny that's not a factor. If Ward was an easy fight it would've happened already. Asking Golovkin to move up 8lbs and give up not just size, but speed as well is a big risk. When has a smaller, slower guy ever moved up and beat a defensive genius? No question Ward's a much tougher fight than Froch and Chavez, but he's also a much smaller reward right now. Hopkins had the same dilemma with getting Dela Hoya.

I've always said a win over Ward validates Golovkin's career. Same argument could be made that Ward could get his career back on track if he fought Kovalev next.

LOL. True. What it basically comes down to is:

-GGG fans not wanting to admit that Ward is too good

-Ward fans not wanting to admit that GGG does not need Ward at this point in his career.

GGG is not ODH and it's highly unlikely he ever reaches that level given his age. A better comparison would be Miguel Cotto.

This is my whole point-GGG is being spoken about in glowing terms but he isn't confident that he can go into the next weight class and beat the best there. As we shift away from Floyd and Manny, it should be noted they went up and fought the best in Castillo and Barrera respectively, although they didn't go up 8 lbs.

Yes, a ward win does give GGG's career some much needed validity. A win over Kov just adds to Ward's career, it doesn't validate it.

I want to see ward/kov, but it seems that fight would occur after ward/ggg. As I said to devel916, if ward/kov happens 1st, it is very unlikely we get a ward/ggg fight and if we do, it will likely not have substance.

            • Interesting how Sanchez keeps talking about Cotto, Ward, Canelo... if Lemieux is such a tough fight.. shouldn't he be focused on him.. and not worrying about the next opponent after this "Tough" Fight

but... but... but... they in the same division doe!

they act like Ward vs GGG wouldn't be for Ward's lineal 168 lbs title.

                    • Golovkin is currently popular and has a potential mega fight with Alvarez down the road.
                    • Ward is currently unpopluar, has a style of fighting that fails to attract fans, and has no good opponents to fight at 168.
                    • Ward needs Golovkin to move up to face him, but Golovkin doesn't have to. Ward either needs to become a relevant draw and bring more money to the table or he needs to make concessions like 4lbs.
                    Damage Control!!!!

Anyone from 154-168 since they had trouble getting fights remember

                      WARD OPPONENTS

                      Paul Smith
                      Edwin Rodriguez
                      Chad Dawson
                      Carlos Froch
                      Arthur Abraham
                      Sakio Bika
                      Allan Green
                      Mikkel Kessler
                      Edison Miranda
GGG has fought all of these guys in 2.5 years. In the same time frame Ward has fought Smith and Rodriguez. That's it!

You are going back 6 years to the Miranda fight! Ward fans are living in the past. You don't get ranked based on what you did 4 years ago.

When is Ward going to fight a champion again? Will he even fight a contender next? Probably another bumcan...
