    Comments Thread For: Golovkin Tabs Canelo As Slight Favorite To Beat Cotto

    Given the level of anticipation surrounding the World middleweight championship between Miguel Cotto and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, it says a lot that Gennady Golovkin is perhaps the fight’s most interested observer.

    The fire-breathing knockout artist from Kazakhstan has his own big fight ahead, as he prepares for his October 17 middleweight title unification clash with David Lemieux. The bout is set to headline at Madison Square Garden in New York City, with the city also playing host to Tuesday’s press tour kickoff to help promote the fight.

        Come on Jake! Golovkin's real comments were, "I don't know. Canelo is a little stronger and Cotto is a little smaller." That's it. He didn't lean any which way.

            GGG and his team want no part of Cotto...

            GGG = Canelo wins.
            Abel Sanchez/K2 - We want the belt, not Cotto.

            The more and more I think about it, GGG must think he loses to Cotto no wonder they want the B class fighter so bad. He is slow and stand still, that's exactly what GGG wants. Not some guy with a brain, footwork and defensive capabilities.

              I am keeping this post to remind you next year. You will be the one eating your words. GGG did not pick anyone in this article. He said Canelo is a little stronger and that Cotto is the champion. He said he didn't know who would win. GGG will beat either one of these guys if they will man up and face him.

                Canelo fought Mayweather, Esslandry Lara, James Kirkland, Austin Trout, Shane Mosley. Those guys are not exactly tomato cans. Canelo learned a lot in the Mayweather fight and is only getting better every day. I suspect Canelo will win and that he will be man enough to honor the mandatory which is GGG. Only time will tell.

                  Let me inform you of how much Cotto is running from GGG. Back in October GGG made the fight with Rubio to be the mandatory for the opportunity that Cotto got from the WBC to fight Martinez. When Cotto made that deal with the WBC he understood that *after one optional fight, he then had to fight the winner of Rubio/Golovkin sometime this year. Cotto made that deal with the WBC in order to get the opportunity against Martinez. Or else Martinez would have probably fought somebody else or fought Golovkin. *Now that Cotto has to live up to that arrangement he is not being honorable. He is backing out because he is being a diva. He fights Geale and doesn't fight the winner of Golovkin/Rubio. So what does that say about Cotto's word. You can argue that Cotto went after the big money. And that is true. But in the process he went back on his word and avoided GGG. Not much of a man in my books, where a man's word is his honor.

                    This is a very close fight. Canelo is obviously the slight fav to win due to him being young, stronger hitter and slight faster than Cotto.

                    To me I have 2 ways each being the winner. It'll all depend to whom can pull the game plan.
