Comments Thread For: Canelo Promises 'Real Fight' Mayweather-Pacquiao Wasn't

Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez doesn’t think there’s any additional pressure on him and Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto to produce a memorable action fight following the anticlimactic, maligned Mayweather-Pacquiao bout.

Alvarez didn’t hesitate, though, to promise that he and Cotto will provide the type of great entertainment Mayweather and Pacquiao didn’t deliver when they meet Nov. 21 in Las Vegas.

Lets hopes he doesnt go gun shy like he did against Floyd because if he does Cotto will walk all over him and people will then make excuses that he is too green or the enchiladas had virus in them.

Was Canelo vs. Mayweather a real fight? Why didn't Canelo provide any action in that fight? Cotto vs. Floyd was exciting. Pacquiao vs. Mayweather was more exciting than Canelo vs. Floyd. Golden Boy, Oscar, & Canelo spend a lot of time using Floyd's name to promote their fights. Meanwhile Cotto & RNS are going about business as usual, promoting the right way.

Canelo is fighting a guy Floyd & Pacquiao beat years ago. The "resurgence" of Cotto is based on fighting a C-Level Rodriguez, One legged Martinez, & drained C-Level Geale. This should be easy work for Canelo. If he's really as special as he's being made out to be, he should have no problem beating a fighter in the twilight of his career that lost to Pacquiao & Floyd years ago. Austin Trout beat Cotto handidly ffs

I don't see how this fight couldn't produce fireworks. Has all the makings of an all-time classic. I would love to one day see this being featured on legendary nights if anything for the significance of the PR Vs mexico rivalry

u hit it on the nail Canelo fought like crap against Floyd and it was worst than May vs Pac in terms of "action" and effort by the opponent, u make a good point about Cotto, and Canelo has also had a crappy few fights before getting to this one, there's something about this fight that seems to have a generic touch to it, as if it's more about names than it is about quality fighters, i've never seen Canelo perform amazing against another great fighter, all his highlight reels are against C and D level fighters and Cotto is a legend but u hit it right on the nail about his "resurgence" i think Cotto is getting a beat down, he's worn out but i hope i'm wrong

Lol, Pac at least got 1 or 2 clean hits in. Canelo biggest punch was when he hit the ropes.
