These are the days of 4 world titles per weight class and usually there are 1 or 2 weak champions in each weight class. A fighter like Broner who is nothing special can win titles by fighting the worst champion. Broner has won titles at 130, 135, 147 and will soon beat another weak champion at 140 for his 4th different weight class world title. Also 4 different champions per weight class means there are lots of mediocre ex world champions for a guy like Khan to beat. Losses, and KO losses in your prime help keep you out of the hall of fame and Khan has 3 of those. If Khan deserves to go to the hall for winning a version of the welterweight title then Broner has already done enough to be a lock to be in the hall when he retires. Broner is a three weight world champ while Khan would only be a two weight class world champ IF he wins a 147 pound title. Khan has 3 losses, 2 by KO. Broner has only 2 losses and has never been stopped. The short answer is no, winning a 147 pound world title doesn't get Khan into the hall. Unifying the welterweight title would get him in the hall but that is much harder to do.

I'm not even commenting on the complete fantasy of the Khan-man getting into the HOF, because it would be an absurd attempt and laughable.
But, I think (Judging by this thread) many do not know why some guys get inducted into Boxing's HOF. Guys like Floyd and Manny will get inducted during their first year of eligibility, because they both have had outstanding careers.
Professional boxers have to wait five years after retirement to be eligible for election into the Hall of Fame. Inductions are handled by members of the Boxing Writers Association of America and an international panel of boxing historians. (Wiki)

Everything is always next year with Khan. And when next year becomes now he moves the tough fights away for another year. Khan used to take risks years ago under Roach. Since his lose to Garcia 3 years ago and his move to Hunter Khan has yet to fight a dangerous welterweight. Why can't big talker Khan who now claims to be the best pound for pound fighter in the world fight Thurman or Brook in late 2015? Maybe because he still doesn't want to fight a dangerous welterweight. Feed him Porter? Hell Porter would knock Khan out and it's almost certain KHAN WILL NOT BE FIGHTING PORTER IN DECEMBER. If Khan fights Porter I will come hear and say I was wrong about Khan.Comment

Maybe if he starts getting quality, exciting fights. In his most prestigious fight he got knocked out by Garcia.
Beating Brook or Thurman for a belt would be good, but one victory isn't enough to get into the HOF. Avenge his defeat to Garcia or Peterson, defend against some top guys.Comment

Yeah I don't see him fighting Porter either and I'm not sure titles are his chief concern otherwise the Brook fight would have already been made.
Based on what he has said I think Khan is targeting two big fights (or paydays), one in the US (hence the May/Pac talk) and the other when he returns to the UK to fight Brook - a fight he says will always be there.
He probably sees the likes of Thurman/Porter etc as high-risk, and low-reward.Comment

He's in the British hall of fame right now. If he wins a title at welterweight, then it still won't be enough for him to be in the world hall of fame. If he unifies the welterweight division and beats a huge name like Pacman on the way to doing it then you could make an argument. Haters would hate on him anyways.Comment
