Parker's reaching the stage where he needs to step up his level of opposition. Just because he's young doesn't mean he has a free pass to be fighting lower tier fighters. That's the same excuse people were touting about Boytsov and look where he is now. If Parker's ready to step up he should do so. There's nothing to be gained by fighting domestic level opponents, and in fact it could turn out to be deleterious to his development. Parker needs guys who can test him, not guys he can knock over in seconds and look great doing so.

There needs to be a gradual progression of course, but a progression nonetheless. Fighters like Christian Hammer and Andrey Fedosov would be good at this stage, as would someone like Charr or Cunningham. Fedosov was no problem for the inexperienced Jennings to take on in his 17th professional fight, and he wasn't half as promising as Parker looks now.

That's probably a fight that needs to happen soon, if only to get it out of the way. Parker easily defeats Browne, of course, though it'd be a great springboard into the upper echelons of the sport, since Browne is at least fairly well known and perceived as a legitimate tough guy (even if he's awful).

I'm not sure why. It's pretty easy to see what sort of level he's at.

I agree what you are saying.A lot of guys you mention just simply
won't fight Joe.He too bigger risk for them.He just iced Tupou who
Jennings took 9 rounds to beat.Duco plan is two more fights down
Under and then they are taking Joe to America.
2016 will be the tour of destruction.

Wilder is the best heavyweight in recent memory, deal with it
It official the Bronze Bambi is fighting a no name Frenchman.
Another real step up in class. When Parker fights him he will
hit him so hard he won't need a doctor. He will need a priest.
Ortiz would kill him.Charles Martin would take him apart.
Parker going finish this hype job.Joseph Parker is the real deal.
Once he taken out Wilder. He will clean out Joshua the other
            hype job.

Chisora, Perez, Arreola, and Stiverne would be my ideal fights for me to watch Parker in. Arreola and Stiverne obviously the tougher of the four.
Like I said earlier, those level fights are likely 2 years away yet.

              You actually nailed it imho.

I want to see Parker tested in a lot of ways, as well as chin-checked.

And I want to see him tested by a big shot AND accumulation damage.

But the way to test him..... is to expose him to people who can ask the questions, while giving him an opportunity to reply with some answers.

Still too much too soon imho. Not saying Parker cant win that fight, just that his handlers seem to be taking one step at a time. Look I could be wrong, only his team will know for sure, but I think they will give him more time for no other reason than..... because they can.

Thats the one, thats the next logical step.

But I wouldnt be surprised if Brown is still 2-3 fights away yet.

I think this is underestimating Parker's abilities a lot. Jennings fought Perez in his 19th fight; there's no reason Parker couldn't fight him soon (he's 15 fights into his career). I understand he's young and his handlers don't want to take any chances, but Parker's at a level now where he could fight such opposition and come out on top. He needs to be fast tracked a little IMO. In 2 to 3 years he should be fighting for a title shot, not getting ready for the likes of Chris Arreola (whom he'd ice right now).

Kevin Barry likes Arreola, Browne or Chisora for Parker right now, to the extent that official offers have been made but none of 'em are biting.

Nah, he looks real good, and will be world-class..... but he still has a lot to work on, they are still developing his frame and ironing out his game.

I agree that he needs to keep focused and keep moving forward.

Arreola should not be included with those other guys, and if selected at all will likely come sooner than genuine top 5 guys like Jennings/Stiverne.

I dont think of Arreola as a top fighter now, and his problems are well documented.

I can see Browne getting the nod after a couple more fights, and Arreola getting the nod a couple of fights after that.....

I hope the other big prospects will grow balls big enough to fight Joseph.

If he keeps mowing down old geezers and bums, we'll never see his full powers.
