Comments Thread For: A Bute-Ful Performance, But is Lucian All The Way Back?

By Jake Donovan - Lucian Bute enjoyed a triumphant ring return following a 19-month hiatus, scoring a 4th round knockout of Italy's Andrea Di Luisa in front of a rabid hometown crowd Saturday evening at Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

The action was one-way, though the early going due to Di Luisa offering next to nothing while Bute was still finding his way around the ring. It was enough for Bute to pile up rounds on the scorecards, but

His confidence grew with each round, loading up in round three and eventually putting away the visiting challenger in round four.

A crushing overhand left sent Di Luisa to the canvas midway through round four, clearly signaling the beginning of the end. He managed to beat the count, but had nothing left to keep Bute at bay. The follow-up attack was enough to convince Di Luisa's corner to throw in the towel.

The official time was 1:53 of round four.

Bute runs his record to 32-2 (25KOs), scoring his first win since Nov. '12. Di Luisa falls to 17-3 (13KOs), snapping a four-fight win streak in falling well short in his first fight outside of Italy. [Click Here To Read More]

I missed the fight; does he still fight like he's afraid of getting hit?

The author forgot to mention that Bute was wobbled in the 4th, moments before he managed to knock down Di Luisa himself.

        Bute is done.

That beat down from Froch was the end of his career, you don't recover from a savage beating like that.

Kind of but he was a little more offensive - he actually got caught and visibly wobbled but came right back and put the guy down and grinned at him. i guess he showed some more confidence in responding like he did, but still must question his overall punch resistance

Wow you guys are really funny to read. Bute has no chin? ? Seriously? Froch ko'd him, but hé never went on the canvas. Neither he went after receiving few hard shot by Pascal. Hey guys, this guy hasnt fought since 19 months, could you give him a damn brake? I just watched the full fight and bute was looking aint that bad at all. His jab was working pretty well and he landed a couple of good left shot. Sure, he might not yet be ready for Degeale but maybe someone like Jack would be more realistic. Good job Lucian

All this fight proved is that Bute is still capable of beating Italian club fighters. So until he gets hit on the chin by anything close to an elite fighter with decent power there are still questions to be answered.
