not necessarily.
some old guys there's plenty of old vids around.
i remember my dad had HBO BOXING VHS tapes of JOE LOUIS. those HBO career vids were good. even though the brown bomber fought 1930's-1940's there's a lot of tape of his fights.
other old boxers not so much.Comment

OK. I read as you saying that if you didn't see the fights you couldn't comment on how good they were.not necessarily.

I can see someone saying that Sugar Ray Robinson was one of the best evers even though he hasn't seen many of his fights. I think that's fine. The opinions of professionals in the field should count. For instance there were many, many professionals who saw both Jack Johnson and Joe Louis who considered Jack Johnson and Joe Louis as 1-2. Blackburn, Joe Louis's trainer considered Johnson to be better (up until the Shmelling2 fight).
If Ali and Louis are considered 1-2 shouldn't we consider having Jack Johnson as a clear TOP 5? I know early film sucks and it's really difficult to tell how good they were. However if so many of these guys (professional boxers, trainers, promoters) considered Johnson to be that good - shouldn't we take that into account?
As far as H2H it's impossible to say who would win. We only have resume at this point to rank people.Comment
