  • I can't wait for Alvarez to whoop on Cotto

And i'm not even an Alvarez fan

Cotto is one of the biggest shams going.

He lost to every elite fighter he faced, Margarito whooped his ass and made him quit, Pacquiao had him running for the hills until the ref stepped in, Mayweather with no legs beat him easily but cotto fans act like its some achievement, and Trout taught him a thing or two about boxing.

His best wins were over a one eyed, shot to **** Margarito who after the fight cotto stood in the ring and stared at him and it was the most pathetic thing i've seen, Martinez only had one knee joint and should have been in a wheelchair. Yuri Foreman also had one leg.

This guy always gets schooled or gets lucky, and yet he acts like he's some legend.

Alvarez gon' whoop this dudes ass, he's young, strong and hungry. Cotto can't deal

Alvarez has all the major advantages going into this fight. He's bigger, quicker, younger, less damaged and I'd be very surprised if cotto beats him

Margarito was no elite fighter, and he loaded his gloves.

Cotto's best win is over Shane Mosley (years before Pac & May did it).

Alvarez might well be young and strong, even hungry, but his stamina and footwork is horrible.

        Spot on Earl.

Canelo is going to put it on Cotto, shame it's not GGG the one to do it - Cotto is the lineal middleweight champ after all.

Cotto's resume for a 4 division titlist is full of flaws and holes.

Does Cotto even care if he wins or not? The only thing him and his fans care about is his money (lmao). This is a cash out fight, win or lose.

Well you could be waiting forever, as it might not happen. If both stood in front of each other feet planted Canelo would probably destroy Cotto. He has sharper and faster hands, and is naturally bigger, but I stress even in this scenario a lot depends on Canelo's ability to take a proper Cotto power shot. Cotto has carried his power up and as we have seen with Martinez, Geale, etc. bigger guys don't necessarily mean better chins, Canelo's in this aspect is still a little unproven to me at elite level because he hasn't faced a guy who is still sharp and can punch fast and hard like Cotto. Angulo and Kirkland can obviously punch, but they are extremely slow and had both seen better days. Lara has a bit of pop but was throwing scoring shots for the most part against Canelo, Cotto will bring it and test Canelo's chin for sure.

But I don't think Cotto will stand in front of Canelo, I think he'll box at times and come forward at times, behind his jab which Mayweather had a lot of success with against Canelo who doesn't move his head a great deal - Cotto will use his superior movement to make Canelo reach and move his feet. Canelo will have his moments when Cotto stands still, but I think one of Canelo's biggest weaknesses is he waits too long for 'good looks' before throwing, meaning he waits for openings, which sometimes don't come and he loses the round. He is very fundamentally sound, and wants to do things correctly with his feet in the correct position, but this costs him when he faces good boxers, and is why Mayweather shut him out, he would be more effective if he learned to let his hands fly whilst moving forward, I think he needs to improve in this area if he wants to go up another level.

I think its a close fight which will go back and forth, will wait until closer to the time before a prediction.

To the TS - as far as Cotto's resume, not sure if you are trolling but Cotto has a hell of a resume. He has beat a lot of world champions, many of which went on to win titles after he beat/stopped them. His win over Mosley when he was still one of the best fighters in the sport is probably Cotto's best win.

Wins over - Maussa, N'dou, Bailey, Corley, Torres, Malignaggi, Quintana, Judah, Mosley, Clottey, Foreman, Mayorga, Margarito, Martinez, Geale - flanked by the 4 losses is some going. His performance in the loss against Mayweather was also admirable, he did a lot of physical damage to Floyd, and it was one of those fights where many of the rounds were very competitive even if Cotto only won 2-3.
