I don't think it would be competitive at all.

Kovalev is one of the hardest hitting LHWs ever, and Ward is a light punching SMW. The difference in power between them would make it easy work for Kovalev, imo.

kovalev doesnt leave himself open to clinches that easily.. there goes ward's #1 tool

edit: lets not forget, kovalev's the natural 175, even if ward clinched, kovalev would most likely out work ward in the clinch. (he wrestles too, coz hes russian)

To be honest: at least Ward knows all the dirty tricks in the book... Kovalev - Ward may result in funny matchup...

... and I don't see Canelo fighting Golovkin (as long as ODLH himself offered his head to the Russian, instead of his protege's...)
