Look at it again. He was popped for not just one drug. Therefore he got 3 months more than Beltran and has to pay 30% of his purse. His fine is not 380k$, it's 180k$ and the other 200k$ are the win bonus which will obviously go away because it's a no contest now.Penalty was too soft. Compare it to what was handed out to Anderson Silva this week. A one year suspension and a $380,000.00 fine. And Silva was probably using steroids to recuperate faster from the devastating leg break that happened last year. He was also required to reimburse the attorney general’s office expenses, required to reimburse the drug testing costs, and the win over Diaz was changed to a No Contest.

Wow, now this is a real steroid. Stanozolol is also known as Winstrol which is commonly used by most professional bodybuilders. I'm 100% positive this wasn't his first time using this but up until now he has been getting away with it.
Sadly Beltran is not alone, others are using PEDS and beating standard commission test. This is yet another reason why boxing needs VADA/USADA Olympic style testing.Comment

I have no problem at all with Silva's punishment. Even though I am more inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt due to his extreme injury that he was coming back from, if steroids were part of his treatment it should have been disclosed and possibly the fight delayed until his system was totally clear. But he did not even attempt to use his injury as a reason and tried to put it on some sexual enhancement treatment or something. Not too bright IMHO.I think silva got what he deserved. Theres no excuses. Diaz will be hit harder for freaken pot regardless of how many times he has popped. Now Beltran on the other hands penalty was way to soft, im not usually a conservative but the way he ko'd that asian kid juiced to the gils was ridiculous & he deserved at minimum a 2yr to lifetime ban. I likedRy but not at all anymore & this punishment further disgusts me with him...
If not for his leg injury, I would have been in favor of a permanent ban for Silva.Comment

I'm amazed that anyone is still using Stanozolol. Any Canadian sports fan will instantly associate that with Ben Johnson and the 1988 Olympics when Canada's proudest moment was shattered and turned into our greatest Olympic shame.Wow, now this is a real steroid. ray beltran hired heredia. imo anyone who hires heredia is most likely definitely cheating. i'd expect more heredia fighters to be exposed as cheaters (floyd, marquez, everyone at tmt gym, etc.).Comment

1. the win should be struck from record and awarded to Ao.Former lightweight contender Ray Beltran has been suspended for nine months by the Nevada Athletic Commission due to his coming up positive for the banned substance stanozolol in testing done for his May 1 technical knockout win over Takahiro Ao.
The commission voted unanimously on the punishment during its Aug. 13 meeting.
Stanozolol, which is also known as Winstrol, is a steroid that also gets rid of fat without getting rid of muscle. Beltran had difficulty making the lightweight limit for the bout and came in half a pound over, meaning the vacant title they were fighting for remained vacant after the bout.
