Comments Thread For: Arum Says Bradley vs. Ali is Not Sellable To HBO

GGG has shown the way you get to be mandatory - you fight the best available and/or target the no1 ranked fighter in a different association as he did with Rubio. Eventually (hopefully) it works out.I feel bad for Ali.
-Can't get Bradley because he's not TR( Bob's not even hiding that)
-Can't get Thurman,Porter,Khan, Garcia etc because he's GB
-Can't get Brook because he's not a mandatory and too dangerous
He's in a bad way I mean maybe Canelo down the line but Nelo is to big for him now.Comment

Titles are fairly meaningless today. I mean certainly titles are at a all time low in what they mean. HBO seems more willing than ever in seeing guys pay step aside fees or potentially losing titles than they've ever been. I actually don't recall anyone losing a belt cuz of HBO, but maybe its happened & I just don't recall, but I feel like its very likely to happen to Kov soon.
And respect to Ali for being in a great position to make some money for NOT fighting with the step aside money.
I will say Bradley vs Rios seems far less competitive than Bradley vs Ali so I kinda hope Arum is just lying here as if HBO is more interested in Rios than Ali thats a bad sign although I suppose maybe slightly higher ratings since more people know Rios & fewer people know Ali or that he is on the rise.Last edited by Eff Pandas; 08-13-2015, 07:24 AM.Comment

The problem is he doesn't own Ali, and Ali has a good chance at victory. No one wants to see Rios in this fight, his last win that wasn't Mike Alvarado came as a controversial DQ, before that was Abril and that was controversial as well. His last clear non-Alvarado win was in 2011 and this guy is fighting for a belt? Ridiculous.Comment

His legacy has never been THAT great. Since signing with TR his bankroll has rocketed. And I'm a Arum is the devil guy & I can say that. F#ck legacy, give me da money.
Bradley is helping his family's legacy, f#ck what boxing nerds think about his legacy. Most boxing nerds have been ****ting on Bradley since he signed with TR.
Plus I think the reality is Bradley's legacy has reached a respectable point just due to the Marquez win. Personally I thought Marquez won (it was mad close & I can't even hate on the decision even though I disagree with it), but most thought Bradley did & thats a HOF win on Bradley's resume along with title runs in 2 divisions & he's seemingly gots his eyes on a attempt at a 3rd division. His legacy is gonna be alright & his bank account is gonna be even better.Comment

Exactly, its like he's a less powerful, slower and less technically sound version of Provodnikov. If Bradley, while making the fight unnecessarily hard on himself, can beat provo Rios is no problem.Comment

The #1 network for boxing can't be sold a fight between Bradley and Ali and there are posters that are OK with this and instead of watching a young Sadam Ali get his title shot they want to see a fading Rios get another shot at a title that he hasn't earned because there will be action.
Sad.Comment

People who start threads about HBO being better than PBC are comparing a couple of apples to an orange grove.
HBO has three fights dates (one on PPV) set for the next 10 weeks, and none until October. By the time that first one airs on HBO, PBC will have had nine televised dates between now and then, with more to come in October, presumably.
HBO has already blown most of its budget? On what? They made a gazillion for their share of May-Pac alone.Comment
